I want Kadri gone if we can find a decent #3C, but he's still a very valuable player. Laughton and Gudas are two significantly lesser pieces.

Kadri for Ryan and Andersson is the right trade. Ryan is a right handed center who PK’a and wins face offs and puts up points. Andersson is the right handed Dermott. Calgary fans seem irrationally high on Andersson but the value seems even.

My understanding is that Laughton had more 5v5 points...
He did, but I don't believe he actually drove that production. And besides, his underlying metrics are pretty awful if you put any weight on such.

I've wanted Andersson for like two years. I'd love a trade like this.

I'd welcome this too and would prefer it to the other.

Can't say I'm that interested in Roslovic if that's the key piece coming back... The Jets don't have a first rounder in this year's draft either.

I don't see a deal that make sense .. The only player that I really would want is Trouba. But a Kadri for Trouba deal doesn't work out value wise (nor for the Leafs cap).

Outside of the box idea: a deal of Kadri + Zaitsev for Trouba (with some additional +'s to balance it out since this favours the Jets IMO)... Assuming the Jets don't view Z as a negative asset, he plugs a RHD hole that is left by Trouba and Kadri shores up their centre position.

The Leafs could then re-sign Trouba long-term without significantly impacting the cap. A separate deal to land Colin Miller could then leave the Leafs with a d core of:

Rielly-Trouba
Muzzin-Miller
Dermott-Liljegren
Rosen/Holl

Nylander moves to a full time centre role up front. Opening a spot for Bracco, as I believe Brown will be moved as well. And since I've gone this far, maybe they move Marleau somehow.

Hyman-JT-Marner
AJ-Matthews-Bracco
Moore-Nylander-Kapanen
Mikheyev-Goat-Korshkov

... I love off-season dreaming :eyeroll:

It’s a lot of moves to lose a D in the expansion draft

Not to beat the worlds deadest horse....... but.

According to Friedman’s latest. He confirmed that there was a rift with Pesce in Carolina that almost caused a trade.

thanks for keeping the dream alive. :thumbu:

a nightmare for me. I can't stand Pesce. I give credit to Carolina for hyping such a marginal NHL player to the point everyone thinks he's great. I think we should do that more often.
to each his own, I'd love him on the Leafs.

Talking with some pred fans they seem to be ok with these type of deals

Kadri+kap for Ellis + Scissions

AJ + lilijgren + bracco for Ellis and Jarnkrok

Zaitsev+ Kap for Ellis plus cap balance

The deals arent bad. Not sure about the 2nd one as Lilijgren is too young and our only serious rhd to worry giving up. Issue with the deals could be making the cap work for both teams.

I'm not sure the Pred fans in this case would share the same thinking as their GM. That 3rd proposal looks great for the Leafs & very bad for the Preds.

Pesce doesn't even really play physical, I'm left scratching my head what exactly he does. I much prefer Muzzin, hopefully he gets better with the turnovers as he learns that our forwards don't play defense though.

Roslovic would need to come with at least a 1st, and probably another 2nd or 3rd or B-prospect for us to even consider it.

We'd add for Trouba, but he'd need to come with an extension, and the add would need to be reasonable. Perhaps we could do Kadri + Zaitsev + for Trouba and a guy with a bit of cap.
I agree on Roslovic. He did put up 24 points this year despite playing under 10 minutes per game. If he gets bumped up to 14-15 he could have a breakout year.

Kadri for Roslovic, a 1st, and 2nd I'd do probably.

I want to keep Kadri..... but our salary cap structure won’t allow for a 3rd line player making 4.5.

I really like Laughton as well. Ryan Hartman is another Flyer I would like to acquire. If Andreas Johnsson won’t signs a reasonable bridge deal, he has to go.

Kadri and Johnsson for Laughton and Hartman clears up cap space and gives us some different skills. Maybe you could also get a money-retained Gudas too!

Is there a reason why Calgary would want to move Andersson? He seems like the kind of player they would very likely want to keep, especially if T J Brodie's time is up in cow town as some are speculating.

Fantenberg is more realistically available, but bottom pairing guys aren't our greatest need for sure.

Pesce is cost efficient and cost controlled, Muzzin will either be over paid or playing elsewhere after next season. Leafs need to address RHD, it's their weakest link.

Pesce at $4 million isn't really all that cheap for what he brings. He's at best a number 4 in my book, and that's being generous. I can only think people are looking at his +- this year but Hainsey had a similar +-. Gardiner has a high +- and his comes with talent. I think it's just a grass is greener from some fans who probably don't watch a lot of Pesce.

Ryan is someone the Leafs had interest in in the past. Andersson fits exactly what Dubas wants in his defence.

It makes some sense on paper I think but doesn't cut much cap space.

With that said, I don't know if Calgary would trade Andersson when they have a few defenders running out of term very soon.

I've watched him and would like him on the Leafs. Pesce and Slavin made a pretty good first pairing. Somebody even better of course would be nice, but those kind of defenders are rarely available and are pricey.

Having said that, I doubt if he's available. Trouba is another defender we talk about that probably isn't available either.

this pesce thing is such a non-story lol

he wasn’t happy, but waddell confirmed everything has been good since the new year, and the way BP and faulk played in the playoffs, i doubt carolina has any interest in moving him

that’s probably why we heard so much about pesce to toronto, imo

i see fleury the one getting moved, especially if the canes re-sign justin faulk

My guess its Brodie that exits and Andersson stays.

Legit 2C that got stuck with Marleau and whatever else scraps he got last year. Bargain contract, unless someone blows us away, we need to keep him around.

You’re right but there is one huge glaring issue with Kadri you forgot to mention.

He doesn’t play post season. He screwed the team two years in a row. We need to move on from selfish players. Unless you don’t believe this is a playoff team.
