The Rangers are in an interesting spot because I sincerely think the return for Buchnevich, who would presumably be extended shortly after a team would acquire him, would be better than Kreider at this point.
Do you move Kreider for the Hayes return, or do you cash in on Buchnevich and possibly add more to acquire a similar-aged, cost-controlled center?
With the Fox addition, Buch + Deangelo is an intriguing package to start for another team. I'm not a huge advocate of trading Deangelo, but if Nils is the real deal, he may be ready next season.
The Rangers could also theoretically create cap room by attaching a draft pick to Brendan Smith and taking back less salary in return.
