Kreider to Arizona for Crouse + ARI 1st

Namestnikov to SJ for their 2nd ‘20

I'm not sure we can get a 2nd for Namestnikov if we could only get a third for Vesey.

I'm good trading Kreider at this point, but I've never been a fan of Crouse. I'd want something more than him.

I personally see Namest as a much more useful player than Vesey. He can sort of just do it all. Not sure how that plays out in terms of market value, but I wouldnt be surprised if there were more teams interested in Namest

A first rounder from Arizona or Edmonton is probably the best single piece we can get for Kreider. I don't think he's worth that much more than Hayes, Hayes was having a great season. I'd be happy with the pick by itself, though I like watching weird reclamation projects like Crouse and Puljujarvi.

there are guys that you don't expect much in return anyway that you would dump...kreider is not one of them. you can move others and fit kreider this year to push the decision back to the deadline.

Ottawa is $1.5m under the floor with 16 skaters under contract and Colin White to sign. In other words, they’re not under the floor. Plenty of cap space though to take on a “who cares” contract. Except the owner is tight fisted.

Maybe. That cap amount also factors in 3 goalies, the cheapest making $2.4m. Almost $4m under combined. It's a thought.

I mean, they offered him a contract and he took too long to respond/accept. I don't see that as the Islanders fault.

Trying to explore something around Brendan Smith for Mike Condon (2.4M cap hit but 3M salary) is a very interesting option. Condon could be sent to the AHL to clear 1.075M. Can also be done with retainment on both sides which would still help us, tho ugh not as much, and make the additional amount OTT pays less. However it gives them a player in Smith who they can play as opposed to Condon who they will have in the AHL.
