If Holland was after Nyquist, the guy on the Rangers who fits a similar mold is Buchnevich, not Kreider. They could probably sign him short term and keep the cap hit below $4m which would be ideal for them. I wonder if Puljujärvi would come back along with their 1st next year

Fair point. I’m certainly hoping this is the exception. I’m sure he’ll produce. The question is will we win. Tampa did home grown perfectly and got bounced early so no guarantees either way.

Edmonton could have had Buch at the draft but today ended up with Chiasson and the other Granlund. $3.9-million in cap room left. Not enough to sign a guy like Dzingel or Johansson. Maybe Vanek still has something left and will sign for cheap? He made $3-million last year. Now that I think of it how much is Buch expected to sign for as a RFA?

Lemieux--2 years at $1.5--it's fair--I see him becoming a 3rd liner but it ain't a slam dunk and he's just worked himself into being a regular.

DeAngelo--2 years at $2.5--it's also fair--he was scratched numerous times but played very well in the second half. To legitimize himself as a top 4 D he'll need to take on a penalty killing role--that should push him over 20 minutes average too. Barring that step he's in Michael Del Zotto land. I think he's capable but he still needs to show it.

I would not give Buchnevich 6 years. He gets 2 years too at $3.5--maybe even a little less. He also had a good second half last year but his first half was atrocious. Good signs IMO but I'm not entirely convinced and IMO if the right trade came along I would move him. But anyway the next two years should tell us if he's more like Pastrnak or more like Zherdev.

Kreider is the guy i’m not signing long term and I doubt Edmonton trades for anybody unless the know the player will resign with them. Doubt Kreider would resign in the Pacific Northwest.

Since they were already willing to trade a #1, maybe Dallas offers it again for Kreider.

No clue.

I've never heard anything about that.

Personally, I think he ends up in Colorado either this summer or sometime during the season.

Kreider is the guy i’m not signing long term .

We don’t a choice, he has to be moved at this point. He knows it. We know it. It’s kind of sad because he’s been a good Ranger for us but at this point we can’t ice a time with him on it because of the cap.

When Gorton was saying he’s had talks with CK’s camp I wonder if it’s a sign/trade. He said they’ll continue having talks.

With all of the top UFA’s signed, CK can ask for the moon and possibly get it. There are some desperate teams out there and I think Gorton will get very good value for him.
