Might not be the popular opinion, but Verbeek really needs to consider moving him this year while his value is at an all time high. The biggest reason to trade now, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near his next contract. Eat 50% and get back a 1st + top prospect from a team. How much more value could we get my giving him to a team for two playoff runs?

Frankie is young enough to be part of a contending Ducks team. He came here when things were rock bottom, and I’m sure he sees in a couple years Ducks will be competing for a playoff spot.

Tired of selling off players, time to start building a contender. Need a combination of younger players and vets to do it.

The Ducks will still have Strome and Killorn as 'Character' guys to support the youth movement on the Ducks roster. Gudas and Lybushkin too. I don't see Lybushkin returning more than a 4th, might as well keep him for Mintyukov for at least another year.

At what price, because why would he want to take a 1 year deal to stay in Anaheim if he can get a job almost anywhere else?

Yeah just like with Kulikov last year I’m surprised how many people seem to assume these guys want to stay here when the team is terrible and they never chose to come here to begin with

To whom are you referring? Vatrano signed here as a free agent. He definitely chose to come here. Sorry if I missed the reference, but I thought this was discussing Vatrano.

That said, I can't see him taking a one-year deal, but I could see him taking another three-year deal. I'd have no problem with that for Vatrano.

It's a very popular opinion, and one I don't agree with - nor do I think will happen.

Vatrano is young.. Come next year I fully expect this team to challenge for a playoff spot.. If there are no injuries.. If they don't.. Than I will question Cronin and Verbeek.. Guys like Silverberg and Henrique will not be here next year... We gotta fill those voids with upgrades.. I guess your Gauthier will take henriques spot.. We need a good third line scoring winger... Either Max jones pans out or hes gone as well. In short.. You keep Vatrano... Dude is the only other player other than Terry that can snipe..

He's not ancient but I don't think I'd call him "young" either. He turns 30 in a month

I think you can fit him into the teams future if you move one of the other vets off (Killorn. Fowler and or Gibson)
I would bet anything that our Gm will hope for a bounce back season next season from fowler. At which time, he will ask him to wave his Nmc in summer 2025

I don’t see killorn being traded, he’s a guy pv personally brought in.

Gibson will be tough to get any value on, maybe at the draft we can find a trade.

I think fowler makes the most sense to move on from…. Stylistically he’s just not a great fit…. And doesn’t compliment any of the young dmen , if anything he holds them back in fear of having to line them up next to fowler

So when Frank signed here last year was excited, I enjoyed his short time with the Rangers and wondered why they didn’t extend him.

Frankie just hit 41 points last night tying his career high and there are still 29 games left.
Amazing stuff.

He is only 29 yo (yes i Know he turns 30 yo next month) but feel he is still young enough to be part of our window when we start competing again which needs to be 2 years. would be nice to see him on this team when they are competing again.

I dont think anyone wouldn't want him to stay. The issue is the contract.

Palat got 5x6mil and that will be 3 years before Vatrano's next contract. Vatrano will be the same age and a comparable role. Even if we give Palat the edge because he has more of a track record and cups, but with the cap going up I could easily see Vatrano getting 5-6 mil for 5 years.

Do you really want to pay Vatrano that much until age 36?
Someone will see him as the final piece and overpay him. I really hope it isnt the Ducks.
