And what if that isn’t going to happen?

In this hypothetical where his team stays at the bottom and continues to employ an unqualified buffoon as GM and refuses to spend on upgrades…

I’m on the player’s side.

This organization is one extreme circumstance of not only failing to be competitive…but failing to TRY to be competitive.

If a player tells this owner or GM to go f*** themselves…I’m on their side.
Said player signed a max length contract with a team that employed said "unqualified buffoon as GM."

When a player signs a big money, max term 100% guaranteed contract with a team, miss me with that player holding out and throwing a temper tantrum.

That said, I have no issue whatsoever if Dahlin, Thompson, Tuch, Zucker, Greenway, UPL, or any of the veteran leaders trying to hold ownership and management to the fire and saying they expect more urgency to compete and they want more real talent on the roster.

Just heard on the morning show that Dahlin asked to speak to media. Joe said it was peculiar that he acted like he didn’t know about the Biz report yet he was the one who asked to speak.

So hes either playing coy and made the request and acted like he didnt know what was going on

Or

He asked to speak to the media because management asked him too because they think we want to hear that no one is happy about the situation including our captain. Dahlin is naive about politics and will be a mouthpiece at times for an undeserving organization. He goes and meets with the media like a good boy and gets slightly blindsided by an exaggerated report about him wanting out instead of just being unhappy.

This “honest meeting” feels like KA propaganda bullshit and he’s pulled are best player into the muck because of it

I think this is some kind of nonsense, and Biz is a clown.

He spoke so quickly after the report that I'm inclined to think he was practicing when it came out, would the timing even line up so that it was possible for him to have heard what Biz said?

It's not a big deal to have a chat with your boss or even the ceo or owner when things go bad and you are frustrated.
I think there is zero tactics from Dahlin's side, he's just invested and wants to make sure there isn't a 4th rebuild (3rd for him).
I'm sure he wants to become a one team legend like the heroes he grew up with.

When it comes to the implicit threat it might as well be that he will try to force change in any way possible. Making threats during communication or negotiation is extremely taboo in Sweden. When you say something at work you mean it and better stand by those words. Thankfully Dahlin has been straightforward with the media afterwards.
It's not a big deal to have a chat with your boss when you are frustrated, and then if your boss acts on your feed back and things improve, then it's all good. You stay.

But what happens when your boss ignores your feedback, or things stay the same, or get even worse? You leave for a new job

Do you honestly expect Kevyn Adams to be able to fix things in the next season, or two (if Dahlin is feeling generous)?

So did Jack Eichel.

How did that go when he heard of an internal cap and they didn’t win?

re: Bolded

Yep. It basically boils down to this:

Biz: "Dahlin is unhappy with losing in Buffalo and wants out"

Dahlin" I'm unhappy with losing in Buffalo. But I didn't ask out." (yet)

Sabres fans are acting like this is some kind of big win. But we all know what the next step is for Dahlin after things don't improve.

Eichel asked out and wasn't traded until the neck injury and the disagreement on the disc replacement surgery.

So, the Sabres have said, "That's nice..." when a captain has asked out before.

Who is acting like this is a big win? ...

We are calling out Biz's bullshit.

Biz isn't really wrong, he's just a bit early.

Bro.. a 3rd grader could take the available information and come to the conclusion that eventually he would be out of here if things continue the same.

But he he is wrong because his words were that Dahlin said he is gone.

He didn't say .. "it's easy to surmise that if things don't change you have to think Dahlin is going to want out"

Nope..he said that Dahlins words were "if things don't change I am gone"

He is wrong and should be called out for his click bait bullshit.

If we're being pedantic:

Biz did not say that Dahlin is gone.
Biz said that Dahlin told Adams he will ask for a trade if things don't change.

Dahlin responded "I've never said I want out of here"

Biz is talking about the future, Dahlin is talking about the present.

Dahlin did not refute that he will want out of here if things don't change.

The press did not ask Dahlin what he'll do if the Sabres continue to be losers.

I think the fact that this has turned into this big of a story where it's on the front page of NHL.com and the Sabres social media team are posting quotes from Dahlin about it, show how close it already is to happening. We're one or two seasons away from him asking for a trade. Everyone knows it.

We saw the exact same thing with Eichel in 2020, before he was asking for a trade publicly in 2021.

Completely false.

Biz exact words.

Dahlin said " If things don't change quickly.. I am gone"

Seriously? Bro, a 3rd grader can tell this is about the future, and not the present.

If it were about the present the statement would be: "things haven't changed, I am now asking to be traded"

"If things don't change quickly.. I am gone" There's still an indefinite amount of time left in the future before the trade will be requested.

He attributed words to Dahlin that he never spoke.
Correct.

But the sentiment is there. And it's the next step whether the words were spoken or not.
