I like him as trigger-man w Goody and Chytil.
Don't think Frank adds what Bread/Strome need, not Fast-ish
Does this mean the Brod experiment is over? Goes to 4th line? In the end, I think Gauthier is out, and Jonny too, after Rooney returns (similar time line with Kakko) and slots back in as 4C with Reaves and McKegg. Or maybe Hunt displaces McKegg as Kakko skates on the second line.

It's an alright move, if not a good one for what it is.

The bigger stuff will come over the weekend I imagine. Would be ideal to get things done before the b2b vs Tampa/Carolina but waiting out other teams isn't a terrible idea.

Bring me Copp, Lehkonen and Lindholm and lets go!
I was thinking Chychrun if it is a buyers market . Maybe Lehkonen if cheap enough...since everybody thinks he is the cat's meow.....

Can he play center?
Nope.
I guess Florida did this to clear cap space? Feels like the small level of sacrifice was worth it as a show of good faith from Drury to the NYR players for the wins we've been getting.

I have no idea how Valtrano plays though. Anyone want to give a rundown on the type of player he is? Does he hit?
Vatrano is the ideal 3rd line winger: good north-south player with great speed and great shot. Can play PK, but isn't elite defensively. Not much of a play maker. Willing to be gritty if need be, but not part of the game.

Florida has like 16 NHL forwards this year: not well-suited for fourth line play and he lost out on the 2nd/3rd line winger (Huberdeau, Duclair, Marchment and Reinhart if you're asking). He never had chemistry with Barkov and can't play top line minutes.

It was clear that he'd be traded out for cap and I think Florida made this trade with a low return simply to put him in a good position: He'll get a chance to play in the playoffs and I think he'll help your depth a lot.

Florida is apparently in on Giroux and it's apparent we also need another LD.

Take good care of Tanklin (Franklin mixed with Frank the Tank)

His skating is actually pretty poor. Its the one big knock on his game

Vatrano Chytil Goodrow

I like it a lot actually. Love giving Chytil two veteran wingers and vatrano can score when given the chance. He buzzes around too.

See that was easy. Now… Do we want one more guy? I think they want hertl.

Would caution about looking at his raw metrics because Florida is really good. He is basically a 4th liner in most dimensions relative to the other forwards on their team.

That said, I like this trade. He's a good NHL body that can even play C in a pinch on a team that really needs it.

north-south skating is great; hallmark of his game...It's something our last three coaches comment on his strength

I think you're talking more agility right and east-west game?

I don't think FLorida ever tried him at center much, so I wouldn't expect him as a C: we had terrible center depth for a few seasons...

Florida going all in on JTM is my guess with the cap clearing, but I'm not knee deep in other team's cap availability for the next 2 years like some on here so I could be wrong on that take.

Also, when teams discuss drafting, guys drafted 'higher' mean closer to top of draft, so in this case the lower of the 2 picks means crappier (to me at least)
