Don't wreck the narrative. LOUUUUU... so secretive, old man rules with beards, mobster vibes so he's in control and is better than most GMs for reasons!

Most overrated GM in hockey. Fans bitch about Dubas, while LOUUUU left Toronto with 2 nice shit stains with the Zaitsev and Marleau contracts and is currently leaving the Islanders with quite a few too.

Cant see the Islanders trading Dobson. Big, young potential #1 RHD.
Potential being the KEY word here. Miller already is a #1 centre whose only getting better every season. Anyways the fact that both fanbases dont like the deal probably means its probably pretty even

Who are the Islanders bad contracts? Its easy to cherry pick all the bad ones when a guys been doing it for 35 years. Where are all the good ones? What are Dubas's good deals? Bunting... And?

How did you not even include Zaitsev in there 🤣

I remember Ottawa fans liking him his first year or two there lmao. Now they want nothing to do with him. What an awful contract that was, gotta be up there for one of the worst contracts given out.
oof ya, not sure how I forgot that contract..

That was a super confusing one. Literally no reason to give Zaitzev (who admittedly had a good rookie season) 7 years... like why.

Palmeri, Lee, and Cizikas are pretty bad. I get the Lee one they had no choice, but the other two they did. I'd argue 5m for a 3rd liner in Pageau is also an overpay even if he's a good player. I'll admit I was wrong about Nelson though.

As for Dubas, I mean Spezza, Bunting, Brodie, Giordano are all good contracts just off the top of my head. They "overpaid" for their stars, though I'd argue outside Tavares the Leafs are getting pretty good value from those. The Ritchie contract sucked I guess lol. But at the end of the day, overpay for stars in their primes>>>middle six talent in their 30s.

Did you use two damn near 40 year olds as good contracts?

I'm not an Islanders fan so I have no skin in the game but I'd take Cizikas at 2.5m on the Sabres all day. Physical face-off winning center who's great defensively. I don't see that as a bad contract at all.

This is a good trade for both sides:

To Islanders: Miller (with 40% retained this season, then signed to 7 year $7.85 million per season), PoolMan, Foccht, Briesbois, 2024 4th

To Vancouver: Dobson, 2023 2nd, 2025 3rd
You mean it’s a great deal for Vancouver and trash for the Islanders.

So two guys that took discounts because they are from Toronto. The matthews deal was terrible from the moment it was signed, were going to see just how bad over the next season or so. Never should have got that dollar amount with such unfavorable term.

Pageau deal is a great one he plays 19 minutes a game and was huge on all their runs. Plays in all situations and great in the faceoff dot. Can carry a line and play against the other teams best players.

What does age have to do with this? Giordano is still an excellent top 4 dman making under 1m even though he's almost 39. That's a good contract.

They just spent a high 1st on a bottom 4 dman after trading away a championship top pair D away for a couple mid picks, give them a break.

They were good contracts regardless of circumstance, I don't see why this should be relevant. 11.5m for a 60 goal scorer isn't terrible either. The RFA market has just shifted so that these players aren't getting bent over anymore.

Pageau is a great deal? Idk about that. He does play a lot for a #3C and is reliable, but 4 more years at 5m for a guy who's had 40+ pts twice? Idk if I agree.

Pageau is a cap dump in this cap climate. Defensively responsible centers that can't crack 40 points aren't worth anywhere near 5 mill per.
