Forslund contract negotiations

I for one think it's great we're getting to know each other better.

@saraciv420 what is your father's middle name and who was your favorite teacher in school?

True story, yesterday AT&T thought I was trying to scam them because they asked me “what’s your favorite restaurant” and I had like 15 answers.

Maybe this is a ridiculous idea, but could we start a GoFundMe to try to get Forslund to stay?

He belongs as much to the fans as to the team, if not more. Imagine proposing a COVID bridge for a year to help make him whole. Get 5000 fans to pony up a sawbuck, and that's a hundred grand. Maybe a drop in the bucket, maybe not.

Sign the contract, and all the money is yours. Don't sign, all the money goes to the Canes community foundation in your name.

Crazy?

There's the weak part in that plan that if he signed he'd look like a dick taking that fan-collected $100k from some kids in need for himself to use on hookers and blow.

All I know is that we’re all lucky that I wasn’t reading this during one of my patented gin fuelled late night posting sessions otherwise there would be a hell of a lot more weird and awkward shit to comment about.

But also @saraciv420 you rock so keep doing your thing. I don’t have Twitter, or the devils tongue as it is translated into Latin (maybe?) but it’s always enjoyable to read what you have to say.

And to all of you heathens out there... also keep doing what you’re doing. Open honest discussion is the key to learning, evolving, and communicating new ideas. It’s never going to be perfect right off the bat but if you’re willing to listen we’ll all eventually get it. Progress not perfection I always say.

Semi-related, but I'm in a personal crisis of belief regarding just this stuff. As we speak I'm in possession of knowledge and proof and actual court orders of some serious misdoings the reporting of which should be making a journalist a career and sending people in jail, but I'm tending to be really afraid that the press in reality is willingly in cahoots with the official people who do the crap I speak of all the time.

The supposed journalists really don't ask even the most obvious questions when reporting to the public what the powers that be give them. They report: "We did this thing." They don't ask: isn't that f***ing illegal what you just told you did?

It's damn near an impossible job because there's such an overarching culture of stonewalling reporters within government agencies and a lot of private businesses. Even filing an FOIA often won't get a reporter anywhere because there are too many loopholes and everybody's got a lawyer on speed dial. It's like, what are you gonna do, break and enter the police station after hours and go through their files and hope they recorded their own misconduct? And news outlets have dwindling resources to begin with. Even getting basic information from a school district about their COVID-19 plans ends up being a huge fight, and it's not even anything controversial. All of it is just so exhausting.

sorry for the detour

Well that I can vouch for. I did a FOIA-like complaint to our domestic data protection ombudsman on certain supposed public servants withholding information from me, and when they finally got the ombudsman's request for clarification they actually went and forged a letter which they now claim they had sent me already two years ago.

Too bad that the morons in this supposed 2018 letter of theirs made the mistake to refer to the attached document B in it. There's no attached documents whatsoever in the letter, but there is such an attached document B in their 2020 clarification to the ombman.

First — I agree with everything you’re saying here. Don’t take this as a rebuttal against implicit bias, because it’s not.

That said — Tripp went through a LONG period of being treated like a fruit loop around here. Really only in the last few years has he been treated like a beloved weirdo uncle.

This may possibly have more to do with tenure than anything. Sara’s still new, by Forslund/Tracy/Kaiton standards. People are still digesting her style and what she brings to the table, which leads to moments like this.

I think you summed it up in one word. HF is nothing like FB, but sometimes feels like a small church of overly involved members that look at you weird when you walk in. There's that awkward silence as you sit down. The pew creaks loudly, and the preacher hesitates for a moment to give the congregation a moment to focus on him again. Stick it out and you'll never go a Sunday without a meal, but it takes some time. Edith isn't just gonna hand you her legendary casserole. You have to work at it.

Some of the people not looking at you but surreptiously moving their ass to the corridor-side end of the bench so that there's no room to sit there.

If this happens I will shut myself in a closet and and do nothing but lie on the floor and listen to Simon and Garfunkel and the Smiths by candlelight for a week

If that happens, you might read news reports of a huge fire in Tampa Bay area any time soon... Could be Florida man, could be DIVINE INTERVENTION.

This is an amazing post and I regret that I only have one like to give it.
