Pretty sure that ship has sailed. Don't think he's interested now, a while back, sure.

Ship has sailed as a D coach.

He might be interested to do a consulting job, similar to the one he has in St. Louis.

He also doesn't need to move here. He can live where he lives now and come to Montreal or meet the team on the road occasionally.

Don't think they will.....he's already 3rd highest scoring D on the team after 2 games and he's only 8pts behind the leader lol

Think we have a keeper here....If he were to make himself available for this years draft, he'd be a top 15 pick and definitely one of the first D's picked in the draft.

6'3, 210lbs RHD that can skate and shoot don't necessarily grow on trees
Ryan O'byrne disagrees!

People can say +/- is garbage but when it comes to Robinson, it's absolutely not a garbage stat. It proves how good he was as a Defenseman.

Yeah but what about Markov's ability to communicate, transmit his knowlage with words and facial language. In his 15 years here, did he improved his english spoken?

I think he can do fine behind the scenes. Speaking in front of cameras is different than 1/1 situations or smaller groups. His hockey IQ is high and what would we have to loose? Were not going to hire him as director of development.

I think O'Byrne could have been a solid 3rd pair D for the Habs if the bag thing in Florida and the own goal didn't happen.
I was at the game vs the Isles where O'Byrne put it into his own net. Come to think of it, that may have been the last Habs home game I attended. I've not been to Montreal in the winter since then.

It depends if after his khl carreer he did some training with yound D and what was the results. A good player doesn't translate automaticly into a good trainer or good coach, see Gretzky example. An average D could be a better trainer after nhl carreer, it's a matter of if the good D could transmit his knowlage. The average D could developp into a better teacher skills after carreer. If he's more cerebral and analitic, he could understand many aspects of the game, something his body wasn't able to deliver when he was an nhler.

Another example : Lemaire became a good coach and hockey IQ brain. Lafleur was a better player but was zero for coaching in his after carreer.

He was going to be a KHL assistant coach this year for Vityaz Podolsk, but the Russian Anti-Doping Agency is dumb and suspended him due to a bureaucratic error. Despite retiring from playing hockey, the agency was not notified in an official letter so he had to submit to doping test. He didn't know so he did not submit samples and is thus suspended for 18 months from any Russian hockey position.

Maybe Markov has been victim of some dumb bureaucratic practicle but after reading that I would pass and try someone else. There is plenty of choices.
