As long as he stays healthy, at age 28 Hampus Lindholm is in his prime and he should be playing his best hockey around this age.

and his defense is way better than the 2 above him.
At least we still have Fowler and his mini-me aka Drysdale !

Lindholm was always going to be really good for the next 3-4 years. On a good team like the bruins the sky’s the limit for him.

I think the reasoning behind the trade is that in years 5-8, age will catch up with him and he wont be an asset for a team where our stars are hitting their own primes.

Whether you agree with it or not, I don’t think we’ll really see the benefits of the trade until then.

He said he's take less to stay here. Cap is going up 4 mil this year plus even more in the next 3. His contract would have been similar to a future 3rd liner. Idiotic trade period. Lindholm on 5.8-6 million dollar deal even years 5-8 is nothing with the cap news.

Lindholm looks incredible for the bruins. More offensively minded than he’s ever looked with the ducks.
I wonder if Bruins pro scout saw more in Lindholm than what the Ducks saw and that the Ducks didn't utilize him the best and they could do better.

His first 2 years in the NHL his offense was improving and wasnt playing a ton of hard minutes, then they forced him into heavy defensive match ups.

The difference is, he is forced to the hard minutes there as well, since McAvoy is injured but he is playing on a strong team. He is not forced - like on the ducks - to handle it with Josh alone. BOS has a set of great defensive forwards as well.

Hampus is now showing what he is (and always was). The Ducks made a huge mistake not extending him. It is not just his play, it is mainly his attitude. Lindholm should wear the C for this hockey club. If he stays healthy this season he will earn some Norris votes.

Lol, the Lindholm saga is still on a lot of peoples minds here. He could’ve came back for a lesser year length but never wanted to.

Why should he. Lindholm was the best player on the roster. You can go 6.5m over 7 or compensate the length by cash. His deal is worth 52m. If his last 3 years are worth what - 10m? Would you sign him to a 5y 42m deal?

Early days, but he is playing as good as he was (if not better than) when he was a rookie.

It helps having two solid pairings behind him. Forbort, Clifton and Carlo are all capable of eating serious defensive minutes without keeling over. Grzelcyk and Rielly also aren't too shabby themselves - they're certainly everyday defencemen. Meanwhile, we trot out Shattenkirk all nights and we've spent the past 3 years trying to find someone who could cover for him.

He was so criminally underrated with the Ducks. Even with a lot of people on here. I had 100% confidence he would dominate over there. When there is such a consistent and massive difference in GF and GA when he plays vs when he doesn't play over years there shouldn't be a question as to how dominant he is. Eye test also backed that up. He is a good 1d to me every day of the week.

Imagine getting a top D 6'4 all world shutdown defensemen in his prime for Vaaks and Gaucher. Boston did well, great move by them. After the cap rises this offseason and even more the next 3 seasons he will be on a sweetheart deal as well. He'll be making future 2nd/3rd liner tweener money.

People here openly claimed fowler was on lindholms level.... if not better. Crazy how underrated he was among our fan base.

I still dont get how 8 years at a discounted price in anaheim was a deal breaker. I imagined he was willing to do 6-6.25 here... it was literally a no brainer.

The only thing you could have argued was the trade value, but i felt like we didnt exactly kill that either, right now it looks like

Vaaks, Gaucher and a couple middle picks in the next 2 drafts..... not exactly winning the trade. I guess if we end up with bedard/fantelli ... it was the right move tho

What peeves me is that he went and signed Strome to 5 years but wasn't willing to commit to Lindholm for more than 4. I know it's different positions and all, but Strome isn't doing that much sheltering, and I would much rather have had someone capable of eating minutes on a disgusting D situation.

Vatrano, I get. Klingberg's a chip that's losing value by the minute, but if I'm looking at the opportunity as it looked like when we got it in the summer, I'd pull the trigger too. Strome is just...confusing.

I'd take Lindholm at his deal over two Stromes at his deal. I'd also trade ANY two healthy defensemen we have for Lindholm without hesitation. including Fowler. He's so damn underrated, glad he getting his shine although sad it's not with us.
