Puts this season into perspective.

They don’t suck (and based on the last decade+ of my life that is admittedly no small feat so kudos) but they are a long, long way from being truly good.

0-2 against Dallas and 0-3 against Philly including this debacle.

Perception that they were a good team was a mirage based on a weak schedule.

Doubling down on Jones and Saquon would be a complete folly.

Giants aren’t trading or cutting ties with DJ, that’s totally unrealistic imo

He’s a free agent[/b]. Good luck to them, he’s a complimentary 10-15 range QB at best. Hard to build an elite team around that unless you nail literally everything perfectly.

NFL free agency isn’t NHL free agency. Even if they can’t agree on long term deal, they can use Franchise or transition tag to retain him or trade him.

There’d be a ton of interest in him around the league if he was available.

I don’t see them moving on. Think he’s shown enough where you gotta try and build around him,

Also I think lot of ppl forget he threw 24 TD as a rookie

NFL contracts are becoming like MLB contracts. DJ and Geno Smith are likely to get paid over $30 million next season.

Skoronski, Parris Johnson, Broderick Jones in the draft.

Cimini had an article a couple of weeks ago saying the NYJ are expected to move Becton back to LT. I'm not entirely sure JD is ready to quit on Becton to the point where he'll spend a top pick on an OT again. Perhaps he'll position the roster better to handle a possible Becton injury. Maybe resign Fant and hope he gets his knee fixed and plays better.

Tomlinson is going to be on the team next year barring something totally unexpected. There's no option here to kick your 2023 1st rounder inside for a year. Could you flip him to RT? Difficult switch to make if you're normally a LT.

JD knows his seat will get warm if they miss the playoffs again. Repeating a draft pick may not be so appealing from his point of view.

Am I a believer in Becton's durability? No. I'm totally in favor of building up the OL. I just don't know if it'll happen. I also doubt Skoronski will be there at 13. Draft is a long ways off, so who knows what will happen.

As bad as our QB play was this year, the root issue is still the offensive line. I know they had injuries but that losing streak to end the season was squarely on the line being abysmal in all facets.

JD needs to go all in on building a wall for whomever ends up under center

PHI absolutely dominated the trenches last night. Game starts up front. PHI has elite OL and DL play. Winning a game when you lose the battle up front is very difficult.

Forgot to add:

If there's one thing PHI fans should be thankful to Chip Kelly for, it's that he brought Jeff Stoutland in as OL coach way back in 2013. There's a reason why Pederson and Sirianni both have retained him. Absolutely elite OL coach.

Yeah, switch Daniel Jones and Jalen Hurts nothing changes in that game.

1. general concur, kudos for informative post.
2. "Skoronski, Parris Johnson, Broderick Jones" - agree, hope it is the first 2 we can snag
3. We will have to see what the deal ACTUALLY is for Becton, but optimistically if he drops weight while adding muscle mass, he may do a good job at G and then some. Obv another T would be pref, but let's manage expectations.
4. Not impressed w/Fant, buh bye
5. Some of our younger interior guys at C-G may be useful if a chunk of the prob is them being raw and lack of Ts at the ends. Beef up on steak on Woody J's dime.

6. We need to be aggressive in getting young Ts. Obv, some guys are off the table, others may have to be sacrificed. As to vets Tomlinson guessing he is part of G solution, pinching at T in situational stopgap. Not sure we can get Brown again, and even if we did, would he break down, and if that happened, would that limit budget to get a healthy body.

Draft will be interesting....

Jets need O line and I would not depend on Becton at all.

I picked the Bengals in this thread. Playing football or hockey outside w/o helmets and pads and hitting people is glorious!

I don't get how the Eagles even lost any games.

This team is too good for the NFL.
Kelce was driving Dex 5 yards downfield. That was amazing. Dex was a pro bowler.

He’s a free agent. Good luck to them, he’s a complimentary 10-15 range QB at best. Hard to build an elite team around that unless you nail literally everything perfectly.
Lets say he is a top 10 QB once he get a real WR1 and oline. That is not good enough for you? Are you one of those fans that thinks you can only win with Burrow, Mahomes, Allen, Hurts, etc? What about the other 27 teams? Should they just not play? Last season Hurts looked horrible vs us and bad vs Tampa in the playoffs. Now he is a top 5 guy.

The Eagles were 9-8 last year.

The defending champions went 5-12.

Overturn in the NFL is neck-breaking fast. The Giants are one good offseason away.

Of course, it has to be good and there's a lot on the line. Not telling you anything you don't know there.
