I was wrong about the Boys game and don't feel bad at all. They hadn't won a road playoff game in 30 years. Why are Romo and Garrett on tv? Their D was great, Brady is not as good as he used to be, and the Bucs throw the ball 66 times strategy is dumb and losing.

There are so many myths of greatness. Peyton had a losing playoff record when he went to Denver and was a game manager when he won his Denver SB. 39-year-old Rodgers has won as many conference titles as Rex Grossman, one. Although Eli was a .500 QB in the regular season (Namath was one game below .500) he beat Brady and Belichick in the SB twice. If I was an owner, I'd take Eli's two rings over Rodger's one SB appearance.
Football isn't a 1 man team. Imagine Peyton with the Giants D.

Colts have requested to interview Wink and Kafka. Kafka has about 3-4 other HC opportunities lined up.

Bummed because I was hoping to get 2-3 years of this staff together. If both get a shot, they have to go due to age (Wink is almost 60 and has tried to be a HC for years and Kafka fits the recent trend of hiring young up and coming offensive minds).

Unfortunately, I do agree Wink is as good as gone. He's pretty universally loved across the NFL and really appears due for that HC shot.

I'd be surprised if we don't get at least one more year of Kafka. He's still quite young, has only been an OC for a single year (and it wasn't even established he was going to call plays when he was hired), and this is still a fairly risk-averse NFL. Being a successful QB coach for a team with Mahomes at QB and Andy Reid calling plays might not necessarily be enough experience to jump to head coach after a single year as OC for an offense that was pretty decidedly average/conservative. Daboll is also considered an offense-focused coach so unless a team is rrrrrreally wanting to make a big bet on Kafka becoming something he isn't yet, I just don't see it this year. Not to mention I definitely didn't hear the same talk about how much all the players loved Kafka relative to what Daboll and Wink were showered with practically all season.

Based on the guys Daboll brought in the first time, I'm pretty confident that he and Schoen will bring in interesting replacements. And if Kafka does go, I'd expect our QB coach, Shea Tierney to be promoted to OC, after he came over with Daboll from Buffalo + has experience at Alabama before that.

I feel safer about keeping Wink. Everyone wants the young OC to become HC. That's the new trend.

The season that Manning won the SB with Denver he started 9 games and had a TD/INT ratio of 9/17.

My totally dumb meaningless stat of the day is that Trevor Lawrence is 37-0 on Saturdays. The Jags play on Saturday.

I'd love to see the GMen beat the Bills in the SB. I think the Bengals beat the Bills and although I pick the 49ers if the Cowboys play as well as they did last week it may be a great defensive game and anything can happen.

Everyone's going nuts over Sean Payton. He had Drew Brees and only won one SB. Big deal.

My concern with CIN at the moment is the OL. Cappa and Williams are out this week. You've got a backup at RT ever since Collins has gone down. BUF edge rush has taken a hit since Von has gone down, but not a good spot to be in on the road for CIN.

Can BUF play a clean 4 quarters of football? Been quite iffy and careless with the football. I'm not super impressed with the weapons they have after Diggs. I am impressed with CIN's DC and very intrigued by the battle between him and Allen this weekend.

Initial hunch is if CIN wins the turnover battle by 1, they probably win a close game.

Payton is a good coach imo. Problem is, the cost in draft capital and the 20M contract you're going to need to pay him. DEN owners have deep pockets so the salary wouldn't be prohibitive.

It was the same for the Vikings game as well. Money was 90% on the giants early that morning. Not sure how it ended split by kickoff.

PHI DEF >>>>>> MIN DEF

But, the Eagles have played like 4 quarters of football the last month with Hurts at QB. And Lane Johnson isn't 100% with the torn adductor. PHI defense wasn't too hot versus QB scrambles during regular season too.
