Hated the pick at the time, but that Jordan Love pick is starting to look pretty good for the Packers lol.
Why did you hate it?
The o-line thing is so overrated. Plenty of qbs have had good seasons behind poor lines. The problem is Zach has horrible decision making. Anyone competent can compensate for it
I'm not saying Zach is a good QB behind a bad Oline. I'm saying I believe a nearly 40 year old Rodgers has slowed a lot and could have physically been a sitting duck vs Dallas imo. I believe Aarons mobility has declined a lot.

You don't need mobility. You just need to make quick decisions. Wilson has very good mobility.

Rodgers would have been fine behind this O-Line. Not MVP level, but above average, which is all the Jets really need at the QB position. Wilson’s issue is not lack of mobility. His issue is that he can’t read defenses and needs five seconds of uninterrupted quiet time post snap to go through his progressions. Rodgers was elite at those skills and would have offset some of the O-Line’s deficiencies.

Nothing I'm saying about Rodgers has to do directly with Zach. Aaron could be a sitting duck who can not move much and Zach could be a mobile QB who is also a bad QB. More than one thing can be true at the same time. Anyway next season when Aaron comes back after his injury lets revisit this after he plays some teams with a good pass rush.

I'm saying mobility is not the key reason why QBs take sacks or face pressure. It's more how long they hold on to the ball and how quick they go through their progression. Generally, more mobile QBs get sacked and face pressure more than the pocket passers anyway. Dan Marino, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Tom Brady are all in the top 10 all time in lowest sack rate and it's not because they had good mobility. And it's not all the o-line either. These guys very consistently almost never got sacked.

A big reason Dan Marino retired was his leg injuries. His arm was fine. He said he didn't think his legs could do another season. I agree with most that you are saying but a QB with limited mobility due to age/injuries can often (not always) have issues against pass rushes that know he can't move. Even a mobile QB can have issues if he is hurt and the other team knows he can not move. Once they know the QB can not escape it can become like sharks in the water. Anyway I do not want to beat a dead horse. Remember this thread and you can tell me how wrong I was next season about Rodgers mobility being an issue when he comes back off his leg injury at near 41 years old.

The Jets have to face the Eagles this season......perhaps with Wilson at QB.

Based upon what I've see through 3 quarters tonight that has the potential for a 50 burger in the wrong direction. Philly's defense is vicious.

Trying to look at the bright side of the Giants season. Paris, Hodgins, Thibs, Xman, Neal, etc have been very bad but scores aside we have not lost any games to teams we were supposed to beat. We lost to Dallas and SF. 2 of the best teams in the NFL. If we can patch together an oline to beat Seattle (not easy) at home we will be 2-2. There is nothing wrong with that after these 4 games imo.

By Jets fans I guess maybe but Daniel Jones around the league is a punchline way more than Zach Wilson.
Is this a joke or a real comment? Jet whiffed on Sanchez Darnold and Wilson with top 5 picks in the span of 13 drafts and Zach is by far the worst and as a punchline makes the Sanchez butt fumble, and Darnold's seeing ghosts look like overplayed cat videos. Even Joe Namath our biggest homer is done with him.

His nickname should be wrong way Wilson.

I like Joe but every time I think of him nowadays it is him repeatedly saying I want to kiss you to Suzy Kolber on the sidelines. :)

I watched the first half before turning it off. Wilson had better pocket protection yesterday. Still didn't open up space for the running game but that's different story.
They'll never be able to run the ball until they can get a D to stop cheating, which will never happen as long as Wilson is the QB.

Everything is affected by the Jets having a QB that game after game is dared by the opposing team to beat them, and he pretty much never does it. There's no room to run and it is the QB's fault most of all.

Either way, he's in at QB because of the Johnsons' connection to his family. I can't think of any other reason.

Sadly we are cursed - the Jets won't have a competent offense until Namath is no longer around to see it.
Is that the curse? The NFL is a season to season league. Things can change dramatically with a few tweeks here and there. With your defense your offense should be able to figure things out if they iron some things out. I think Mike White may have won you the game last Sunday.

I can’t decide whether Saleh or Douglas is the bigger clown right now.

I have to imagine JD is working the phones and until they sign someone, Saleh has to publicly back his guy. Every day there’s a new report of a new semi retired QB saying thanks but no thanks.

I'm not a Jets expert but I thought Douglas did a pretty good job bringing guys in. The funny thing looking at his drafts is he drafted two Michael Carters. Plus a Breece Hall and a Bryce Hall.

Wilson's issue is that his brain is soup.

I agree with Namath’s public comments but, dude, not helping.
Eh, maybe they will. Wilson is an arrogant, arrogant kid who is definitely not well-liked in the room. What else can they possibly do with him to TRY and get anything out of him? Perhaps someone calling him out like this in public will help.

You need to try anything.

Who would you want?

He’s had one good draft, several awful ones, and has brought in bad over the hill free agents , terrible coaches , and drafted and blindly sticks by the biggest bust since Jamarcus Russell when it’s obvious to anyone with eyes that he can’t play.

He’s a bad GM.

Several awful ones? I thought he was only around since 2019 or 2020? I looked it up. He was the Jets GM for the 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 drafts.

I don't remember people hating Zach when he was drafted. That draft had 5 guys expected to be drafted in the first round. Trevor went #1 then Zach, Trey Lance, Fields and Mac Jones. Which QB did Jets fans want out of those 4 since Trevor went #1?
