So wait... we actually have a good team this year and Jets fans aren't allowed to be happy about that? :squint:

I mean the post I'm responding to called Giants fans arrogant and falsely claimed that Giants fans say they'll win the NFC East every year. Never mind that Giants fans for over a decade have been depressingly negative (with good reason) about the team. Never mind that coming off their most successful year in over a decade most Giants fans think they're finishing second in the division at best. So in this context I can clap back and call Jets fans arrogant for thinking they're winning a Super Bowl coming off their what 12th straight playoff-less year? Also, at least the Giants made the playoffs last year, it's TBD if the Jets will be a good team this year.

OMG can we not make this thread a dick measuring contest? The only reason this thread is bearable is because the fanbases get along, just like the MLB thread.

I always laugh when NY fans of one team shit talk fans of other teams like we're not all from the same f***ing place, and like we don't otherwise share mutual teams that we support. Everyone is obnoxious about various things, we should all just acknowledge it and move the f*** on.

I'm a big Giants fan. The Jets have a really good team this year....that defense is gonna cause a lot of problems.

Far as NYG are concerned.....Schoen continues to build the team with Daboll. Gettleman and Reese did so much damage in their tenures that it was always going to take multiple seasons to get the culture and roster back together. Given the schedule we go 8-8 this year that's an accomplishment. We aren't better than the Cowboys nor Eagles IMO.

… and I was responding to a post blasting “ all Jets fans.”

I just said it depends on the company you keep which I think is a very non-controversial statement. My friends - wasn’t saying “all Giants fans” - are arrogant, and were annoyingly unrealistic during the objectively lean years. My Jet fan friends just wanted to be in the wildcard conversation late in the year and to feel like they finally had a franchise QB over the last few years. Obviously, my group of friends is an extremely small sample size. It’s just annoying reading the “all Jets fans think they are winning the Super Bowl” statement. No, but we are ecstatic to potentially be relevant for the first time in a decade. It’s nice to have hope for a change. Having that small sliver of “dare to dream” doesn’t need to be crushed. I haven’t heard anyone proclaiming Jets won the Super Bowl already.

I’m not blasting anyone, nor do I have any dislike for the Giants or their fans. As long as they aren’t playing the Jets, I always root for the Giants. I’d be happy to see the Giants win a championship. I don’t get wrapped up in the competing local team BS unless it’s hockey where local teams are actually in the same division and regularly compete against each other.

The NFC East champ hasn't repeated since 2004 and yet everyone has just penciled in the Eagles and Cowboys as 1 and 2 in the division. f*** that.

PHI lost some defensive starters in FA. The roster is still pretty darn good though. Lost Seumalo in FA, but Jurgens slides in there. Lost Hargrave in FA. Relying on some of the younger guys there to step up. Should still be one of the top teams in the trenches.

I'm looking forward to seeing this Giants offense. Waller should have a pretty good year provided he stays healthy.

I think the Eagles are a step above the rest of the NFC East. Of course, it always comes down to staying healthy.

Bills are the cream of the AFC East until someone knocks them out. Could the Jets do it? I suppose, IF everything goes right or Josh Allen goes down for a meaningful length of time. I do think Miami is overrated.

I'm a Giants fan who roots for the Jets when they are bad but roots against them when they are good. Don't ask me why. I do not know. I can tell you I have not liked Rodgers nonsense pointed at the Giants. He says Ward should have some respect. Maybe Aaron should have some respect for others as well.

The Rodgers-Ward stuff is perfect to hype the late-October game, I'm sure the networks will love that.

I'm not going to trash the Jets or care about their fans bringing up Daniel Jones's NFL Cap Friendly anymore. It's now as Ric Flair would say before he joined the WWE repetition machine "To be the man, you've got to beat the man."

Both of our teams have very early tests with the Cowboys in the first two weeks. Jets have the Bills in week 1.

I say this as a Giants fan, but you're not paying attention or you live in a bubble if you haven't encountered delusional Giants fans who overrate their division chances every year & even worse overrate their draft prospects every year. It's worse than HFNYR overrating our prospect pool on this site.

I'm with @Bob Richards, where I always root for the Jets. We have enough dickheads in the tri-state area who are obnoxious Dallas, Pitt, Raider, or Dolphin fans as a result of both local teams sucking ass during the entire 1970s. Would be nice to have both hometown teams as legit contenders for a change. I personally loved when Rex Ryan was here & both teams went into the season with SB aspirations. Much better than both teams planning their draft parties before Halloween like we experienced for the past decade.

Literally every fan base with any historical success has people like that. Most real die hards have been super negative about the team coming into every season outside of 2017.

Get mike evans only if the cost isn't too much... Im not moving quinnen or Gardner for evans.
No one is.

That’s like you wouldn’t give up Fox for A middle 6 winger. It wouldn’t ever be on the table. You’re talking about draft stock.

Well, Ward hit AR. It’s a non issue if hard knocks isn’t around.

Would your opinion be the same if it were Daniel Jones and Tanzel Smart? You’d probably be calling it a cheap shot by a middling player. You can’t criticize Cobb then defend Ward.

I don’t get where this sad depressed narrative is coming from. Giants fans are happy to recant Eli’s Super Bowl wins. Most Giant fans are Yankee fans so it comes with the territory. I say that as a Yankee fan myself. I don’t get where this hole 80/90s Red Sox narrative is coming from. If I polled Giants fans here, at least half would say they are likely to win the division. Meanwhile, the Eagles are heavy favorites. Fewer fans would pick the Jets to win the AFC East. Yet I keep hearing “All Jets fans say they are winning the Super Bowl,” which I’ve yet to hear anyone actually say.

You are very out of touch with the Giants fanbase. Most expect around 8-9 wins. The most optimism I see (and I share it) is that it's POSSIBLE for the team to win the division but there are so many question marks right now it's not even funny.

I'm calling BS. I grew up with many "royal blue" fans aka Mets/Giants/Rangers/Knicks.

Giants have been around since the 1920s so 35 years before the Titans/Jets came into existence. A lot of Dodgers and NY Baseball Giants fans rooted for them.

There is some geographical truth to the JIMs (Jets/Islanders/Mets if you're not in with the term) however there is equally as much truth to a generation who became fans when Daryl/Doc/LT were larger than life athlete-celebrities in NY.
