If the injured guys are healthy and the rust wears off fast, that's a good sign. Rodgers did throw a lot of interceptions last year though. Is that an anomaly or a trend?
Based on the year he had prior, and the severely diminished supporting cast, I'd call it an anomaly. I can't believe he'd drop that far that fast in 1 year. Add to that his hand injury, and I think he'll be fine. That's not to say I'm expecting another MVP trophy, but I think he's top 10 and a threat to help you win any game. I also think people are sleeping on the impact having a top defense will have on the offense.

Props to Rodgers on a perfect TD throw. That throw aside I was not really wowed by Rodgers going against a lot of 2nd string guys and others that will be cut.
I don't think the goal was to go out and make wow plays. It was quick throws to avoid hits, and letting Rodgers familiarize himself while hopefully getting rid of any potential butterflies.

He could have a great season with Wilson and that defense but physically he is looking older imo. That is not a put down. We all get older. I think he will use his brains more because his legs have slowed.

Yea... that's very contingent on the company you keep.

My Jets fan friends are the "whoa is me" type. What can go wrong, will go wrong.

My Giants fan friends are completely positive every single year that they are winning the NFC East. They are annoyingly arrogant to a fault. Any objective conversation becomes, "How many Super Bowls have you won?" Every conversation about QB's regardless of era or who you're actually talking about becomes. "Yea, well he didn't win two titles like Eli, and Super Bowls are the only thing that matters."

Giants fans love the Jets. We root for them! It’s all Ny

Until they’re good. Then it becomes an issue. everyone loves the jets bad. They’re no threat. The minute they become even decent and everyone can’t laugh, suddenly it’s not fun anymore.

The shift during the Rex time was some of the most dramatic shit I’ve ever seen. Love the Jets. Then they were good and it was about respect and rex being arrogant and blah blah.

Dude it's "woe is me".

Also, this is a fantasy, Giants fans haven't been positive in a decade about the team. Giants fans shouldn't be positive this year coming off a season where they won a playoff game and improved the roster. It's Jets fans that are acting like they won the Super Bowl this year because they got Rodgers.

Only casual fans root for the Jets. There may not be the rivalry Rangers have due to the division but any serious Giants fan dislikes the Jets.

I do not dislike the Jets lol.

There is 0 reason for me to dislike them. We play in different conferences. We meet once every 4 years (outside of preseason). Many of my friends are Jets fans.

It would be cool to see them be good and give my homies something to enjoy for once in this sport. I hope the Jets are good this year.

Agreed 1,000 percent. And when they're both good they aren't both scheduled at 1. Which the last few years has been terrible for someone who follows both teams.

I feel the same about the Mets as well. I wasn't when the Mets "Owned the town," 84-90 though. I'd surmise some of that is overrated.

I know this applies to almost any team but the jets need to stay healthy, their top guys are actually very good for The first time in a while but the depth is not good and if Becton , Sauce, Quinnen, or Rodgers get injured the season is pretty much over.

And the jets have had AWFUL injury luck for a long time now.

I'm a die hard Giants fan and the fanbase was ridiculous during the most of the last ten years. I always say, if the Rangers won a Cup a decade, I think everyone here would've signed up. Even if the Rangers only won let's say two Cups out of any of 1950, 1972, 1979, 1981, 1986, 1990, 1992, 1997, 2012, 2014, 2015, and I'll throw in 2017 for good measure.

It's fine though, the Giants have a real front office and coach now. I still don't see them as a playoff team this year however, I hope I'm wrong.

The Mets were the bigger story in NY during that time.

Mets win won more World Series if the Wild Card was a thing. Kevin Mitchell is their Sergei Zubov.

It's more like the people I run into on the streets, train, when I had an Uber coming back from the West Coast, on the way to work, coworkers, etc....basically anyone who engages me when I'm wearing a Giants hat.

Most of my friends who root for the Giants are super contrarian and hate both Jones and Barkley. Most of my friends who root for the Jets see them as 13-4 or 12-5.

I intentionally do not wear any Jets merchandise outside because everyone wants to come up to me and talk about how great they'll be this year, when I know Rodgers will blow out his knee in week three or be accused of sexual assault when we're 9-2 and subsequently suspended. That's just how shit goes.

The idea that there aren't serious Jets fans is asinine. That's like saying there aren't serious Mets fans. We may all be self-loathing and constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop, but we're deadly serious about it.

for me, it's when the Jets lose 2-3 games in a row and the NY media starts questioning if the Rodgers thing was a good idea. so he gets pissed off, and it distracts him for the rest of the season.

it's inevitable that something bad happens, whether it involves the QB or any of our all-pro/potential all-pro players.

I think the Jets have a dedicated fan base, but are also a franchise prone to bandwagon fans. You can always tell old school Jets fans from the newbs, because the newbs have hope and optimism and shit.

I still remember back when we had Favre. A buddy of mine who was a Ravens fan couldn't understand why I wasn't excited about my Jets (they were 7-3 or something at that point and were tearing things up). I told him, "It's the Jets. Wait for it. They'll find a way." A month and one bad shoulder later, the Jets were out of the playoffs.

I think a lot of what other fans bristle at when the Jets are good is the loud group of bandwagon fans, who can be rather obnoxious.

Jets rarely give their fans something to be excited about. When they do, a small subset of the fanbase likes to beat their chest and loudly proclaim this year is the year, because that’s the fun part of fanhood. I personally don’t, because the organization is cursed and I know better. But I wouldn’t call the other group bandwagon fans.

So wait... we actually have a good team this year and Jets fans aren't allowed to be happy about that? :squint:

You can be happy. But most Jets fans know that the season will end in heartbreak in an absurd fashion. Its just what this team does.

So there is no use in happiness bc the misery will be worse when the inevitable injury, bad call or what have you happens

Im cautiously optimistic. I know we can be a good team. I also know that somwthing bad will happen to ruin it.

Then why bother with sports or life in general? I never understood this kind of take. I can understand pessimism to an extent but... jeeze.

Its been over 50 years since we have been in the SB… most of those years are uncompetitive. Other years we have had injuries derail a seasons where wa actually had a shoot. We also had butt fumbles, hot dog incidents, and other obsurdities that have have also kept the team as a laughingstock.

So yeah it kinda sucks being a Jets fan. Not much to be optimistic about as something always goes wrong here.

The Jets have actually made me care less about football. If it wasn't for fantasy, and the general routine of having football on the TV on Sundays, I probably wouldn't be watching anymore. I mean I have other issues with the NFL, but the Jets being that bad has made it hard for me to really care anymore.
