Maybe I am privileged but I haven’t thought about covid in months. No one with integrity wants Rodgers to play. He's not vaxxed. How many people (including partners and children of Jets employees) will die because of him?

I think people look at the Jets defense as Superbowl caliber so that is mainly where the talk started. The Jets do have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Their 2022 draft was one of the best I have seen but still whats on paper is different than going all the way. That is a tough division. So is the NFC East.Regarding the Jets, this SB talk is out of hand. Rodgers was already declining, more brittle, and they're expecting him to learn a whole new system with new teammates at that age? They literally had this happen with Favre like 12-13 years ago. Not smart.
I hope the Giants fans don't turn on Schoen/Dabboll if they go 8-9 or 7-10 this season. It's a very likely scenario given how brutal their schedule is.

The jets new OC is his guy so shouldn't be a new system for him and the jets went and signed a couple of his old receivers. I don't think the jets will go far but jets won 7 games last season with among the worst qb play in the league so I expect a lot of improvement.Regarding the Jets, this SB talk is out of hand. Joe Rogan episode #1865No one with integrity wants Rodgers to play. He's not vaxxed. How many people (including partners and children of Jets employees) will die because of him?
He still got hurt and they didn't get the job done here. The Jets were 8-3 and then Favre hurt his arm and wasn't the same. Lot of revisionist history to say he wasn't good with them. He also clearly was not done at that time considering he went to Minnesota and had one of the best seasons of his career the next year.
If Rodgers regresses or breaks down they're in trouble.
Im concerned Barkley will be disgruntled even at $13 mill a year. He seems upset at the Giants but he might not even get $11 mill on the open market. I might change the tag on him if he is upset. Maybe make it the transition tag.Dalvin Cook's contract should be a pretty good barometer as to what Barkley can expect. What we know is that MIN couldn't find a single team willing to give anything, not even a 7th round pick, for 2 years of Cook at $12.6M. Barkley already turned down a deal that would have paid him more than that.
If you're Joe Schoen, there's no impetus to make a deal at this point. Barkley is tagged, and the RB market has cratered. Once Cook gets a new deal, that's the closest market comp you're going to get.
I don't know if it was Barkley or his agent that decided to play hardball. But he lost the plot badly in these negotiations. I'm sure he would love to go back in time and take the $14M offer. But that offer no longer exists, and the market in which it was offered doesn't either. Schoen had to move on and plan the cap according to his tag cap hit.
My guess is that Cook's deal comes in at $10M. 2-3 year deal. When or if that happens, I don't think Saquon and his team will be able to deny reality any longer. Just a guess on my part.
I think he's upset that Giants not only won't improve upon their top offer, but that even that offer no longer exists. Given that the RB market seems to have softened even further since that offer was made, you can't blame Schoen for pulling it. In the alternate reality that RB contracts exploded, Barkley wouldn't be accepting less. But nonetheless, it's a bitter pill to swallow for Barkley. It's why he's now throwing around language like "respect." Deep down, he knows he likely cost himself millions of dollars by trying to hold out for what (making an assumption here) were small margins on the contract (slightly more guaranteed money, or whatever it was). You don't get to go back in time and sell your stock when it was at an all-time high.Im concerned Barkley will be disgruntled even at $13 mill a year. I don't blame him for being upset if the leaks weren't accurate. With that said I really think he originally wanted around $16 mill for years. He keeps saying he didn't want to reset the market knowing others got $16 mill in the past. If I was Joe Id call his bluff. Either tell him to go find his best offer from another team or offer $16 mill hit with only 1 year guaranteed. He wants the Giants to pay more than the free market would pay. I think Cooks contract will show what the open market will pay. I do really worry that Barkley will be disgruntled and that would suck for our lockerroom.I think he's upset that Giants not only won't improve upon their top offer, but that even that offer no longer exists. But with that said, they really need to figure out a solution with RB compensation. Maybe allowing more incentive bonuses for the RB position would fix things. Saquon, as a 2OA pick, made about $7.8M a year on his rookie deal. In reality, when on the field, he was performing at the level of a $15M player. And that's only because he was such a high pick. Nick Chubb's (35OA) rookie deal was paying him $1.8M per. For a position that sees the bulk of their career production on their rookie deal, it just seems so unfair.
Still love Barkley, and you don't get to the level he's at without a healthy ego, but he needs to get his head out of his ass. If you're going to hold out, fine. He has the right to withhold his services. But don't do your negotiating through the media. It's a bad look.
