Great, on top of the Rangers, the Jets go off the board to draft a guy with no place on the roster.
Already the stupidity of trading for AR is proving bern right for advocating alternatives.

As it was by getting pushed back 13 to 15 we lost out on every single possible top OTs, let alone the top ones.

We could have done Wilson + the D lineman [forgot his name] that we took late 1st round last year, + maybe a 3rd and in exchange gotten Tannehill + 10OA + a 2nd, prob next year not this, but still.

-----------------
They decided not to reach on a position of need.
They presumably thought as to value, this was BPA.

He has killer speed but needs more strength to tackle at NFL level.
I am skeptical as to LB long term, and he is a waste if used infrequently in isolated/special situations. However, I see this guy could be a high end free
safety -- or if he bulks up and tackles well, SS.

I am optimistic about an improved Becton, but nevertheless this team will go nowhere w/out sufficient OL.

Next year's 1st + 2 attractive enough pieces could have been enough to move up and snag Paris Johnson, who is not Anthony Munoz 2, but like Penei Sewell, is a dominant force at his position.

That's what NYJ gets for not listening to bern
Regrettably, it is we who suffer for their mistakes.

With all due respect, Bern, this is the Jets--Joe D could hop over to Secaucus and solicit advice from a junkie living in the dumpster behind the Walmart, and we'd probably be better off than we are currently. That is to say, this team has been run by morons for decades now and it saying "that's what they get for not listening to me" isn't much of a flex at this point.

Anyway, I don't hate the pick. It's like when we drafted Braden Schneider recently--I like the player in general but didn't think he was a need and didn't like picking him when we did. I assume however that this means we'll move on from Carl Lawson.

I think the guards that are left on the board are related more highly than the tackles. Do they move AVT to tackle? And draft on of those guards if they have a chance? Who knows.

Some truth to what you said but until they listen to me I will have it on the record so I can throw in their collective face. That applies to NYJ, NYR or whoever. We don't have to accept them claiming to be an undisputed standard of correctness/excellence.

Also, if you [not literally you] want to claim you can do better, it behooves you to say, preferably before the fact, what you think should have been done.

Let's see now.
I am not optimistic but hopefully they can get a coupla quality OTs from somewhere.

I like AVT but it is pushing it for him to do T work.
He's not a smurf, but he's not mountain man sized either, which helps at the ends.

Going there would = moving an excellent or at least very good G to a competent T.
Bite the bullet, get the effin T.

Of course, weakening our position in this draft including past r1 does not help but yes, I heard also maybe some good G prospects

Giants are quietly having a very good draft so far.
Seems to be Schoen's MO. He doesn't draft the flashy players or internet darlings, but he has a system and guys he believes in. He had a pretty decent draft last year (and a lot of those guys like Robinson we only saw in small doses).

With that and because of his short track record, he gets the benefit of the doubt (I just hope Banks is the anti Amukamara/Apple/Baker....Giants haven't done well with a first round CB in a long time).

No ones listening bc your proposals are not close to realistic value.

I’m sorry but no one sober is even entertaining Zack Wilson, Jermaine Johnson and a 3rd for the Titans 11th overall and Tannehill. It’s not even remotely close in value.

not in the same galaxy close.

My wife was cracking up because she had too much wine at dinner and she thought his name was Titman. Ngl I don't pay much attention to football anymore so I didn't know to correct her
check out early work by Michael Keaton w/da Fonz, Night Shift

"memo to self
pros tit ...."

Jets drafted a 6'1 LB, Barnes
the pick there who went a coupla slots later is an OT, Duncan

Cobb sucks. The Jets are such a garbage franchise. They'll win like 9 games and look old and decrepit in the process and people will give Rodgers shit and because he's a p***y he'll retire and the Jets will be in cap hell forever.

I said it earlier, I don't fault Douglas for giving it a go, but my god everything they do seems stupid in some way. And if they're not really good this season I'm showing Douglas the f***ing door.

The NFL may not like the Giants. 5 of the first 6 games against playoff teams. 3 primetime games in the first 4 weeks. If we can get through the first 6 weeks at 3-3 then we have a chance but this schedule is tough. Still I do think we could have a shot at surprising some of these teams.

Week 1 - 9/10 - 8:20PM vs. COWBOYS (SNF)
Week 2 - 9/17 - 4:25PM @ Cardinals
Week 3 - 9/21 - 8:15PM @ Niners (TNF)
Week 4 - 10/2 - 8:15PM vs. SEAHAWKS (MNF)
Week 5 - 10/8 - 1PM @ Dolphins
Week 6 - 10/15 - 1PM @ Bills
Week 7 - 10/22 - 1PM @ REDSKINS
Week 8 - 10/29 - 1PM vs. JETS
Week 9 - 11/5 - 4:25PM @ Raiders
Week 10 - 11/12 - 4:05PM @ Cowboys
Week 11 - 11/19 - 1PM vs. REDSKINS
Week 12 - 11/26 - 1PM vs. PATRIOTS
Week 13 - 12/3 BYE
Week 14 - 12/11 - 8:15PM vs. PACKERS (MNF)
Week 15 - 12/17 - TIME TBD @ Saints
Week 16 - 11/25 - 4:30PM @ Eagles (MON)
Week 17 - 12/31 - 1PM vs. RAMS
Week 18 - 1/7 - 1PM vs. EAGLES

Woof that's a brutal start to the season... and TOUGH schedule overall. Could very much see the Giants missing the playoffs this year. But in the end, I think that's okay as they probably need one more season to build out the roster.

Cobb is going to be like the #4/#5 WR. I don't get why some fans are in such an uproar over the Cobb signing.

Also, I'll predict the Jets win 10-11 games. Enough for a playoff spot.

Man they really front loaded the Away Games this year lol.

7 of the first 10 games are away and one of those home games is the Jets.

I hope Dabes breaks it down to 4 game segments again. If we can manage 3-3 in our first 6 we will be okay. We really only have 7.5 home games and 9 road games. Travel is not our friend either. We are tied for the 4th toughest schedule in the league with the Cowboys. I still think we have a chance. May be less pressure playing some games on the road till we are 100%. I think our offense could be good if Neal plays great. If he plays poor then we will be in a jam.

Yeah the home game vs the Jets feels like a ripoff. So we really only have 7.5 home games and 9 road games. UGH.
