Trey Lance started 17 games at N. Dakota State. Zach Wilson started 28 games at BYU. The top 25 is the top 25. Google is your friend. I've never seen a positive post from you. Why are you so miserable?
Because I have to deal with silly comments like these. The "Top 25" was not etched in stone at Mount Sinai. But google says Texas Tech is not top 25 yet they produced patrick mahomes while Alabama, USC, and Ohio State are perennial top 25 teams yet who were the last great QBs produced by them?

Yeah I understand the idea that you're more likely to succeed as a QB playing for a top school against other top programs, but at best "top 25" is really arbitrary and at worst is just...wrong. There are wayyyyy too many exceptions to that standard for it to be applied with any significance.

When Wilson and Lance were drafted I wrote "Neither has started for 2 years at a top 25 program and both have have zero chance of success".
would SF do a swap w/small add?
9ers get the add and a young QB w/similar physicals and but needs to overcome reaction at NFL level, which hopefully can be learned

NYJ get take 2, fresh start

Gonna be interesting to see what happens with Lance. As a Niners fan to see Purdy succeed was quite a surprise. I was shattered when he got hurt but I hope he recovers fully and gets back to playing like before.
9ers + Lions are my adopted nfc teams

I am hoping we get a good OT
and
if possible, would deal both 2nd rounders + to move up and get another OT

more than ANYTHING else that is what Jets need....

That is an interesting swap with SF but I have no idea of their view on either guy so no idea if SF would do it. The Jets probably would.

I thought it would be a conditional third into a first for next year, but about what was expected I would say.

So the jets caved about a claw back if rodgers retires after this year. We better win the SB. Bc if we dont and he retires after 1 year it was an awful trade
Not totally awful but a bit pricy. The key to me is if he plays 65% of the plays which he likely will.

So it becomes a:

2023 1st round pick swap (only move down 2 spots #13 to #15)
2023 2nd round pick #42
2023 6th round pick #207
2024 1st (if AR plays 65% of downs)

For
Rodgers
2023 5th #170

Basically its Rodgers for a 2023 2nd round pick and a 2024 1st round pick.

Over under on preseason snaps taken by rodgers?

I mean we have 15OA, and another 2nd this year. Plus considering the actual offensive weapons he now has, I can imagine he'd be alot happier. Plus hard to see him walking away from a significant amount of money the next few years.

They may have tried for that but GB said no. I think GB did pretty good but neither team got a total steal.
I don't know about the cap details. I think that makes or breaks the deal for both teams

I think he wasn't expecting this - at ties he looked like he wanted to cry. This was from a month ago.

This is from today - will be interesting to watch.

He may regret some things but he pretty much forced the trade. He spun things a different way but he was not answering the Packers phone calls before the decision was made.

For the record, bern says this is a huge mistake!!!
We DESPERATELY need OT and moving back hurts -- a lot.
We would have been better off w/this:
Tenn does not want to pay Tannehill
and is flexible about moving its 2023 1st rounder.

Yes, would be expensive, but
Add both of those and keeping 13 would net us good chance at adding 2 stud Ts
Tannehill, we could add a yr, maybe 2, and renegotiate his deal.

If Rodgers already old gets too old overnight, reitires, gets injured, or pulls any bullshit, we are screwed.

EFFF YOU A.R..
BERN DOES NOT SUBMIT TO YOUR BS

Horrible trade for the Jets. The vax liar Rodgers has won as many conference titles as Rex Grossman, one, and that was in his prime. He turns 40 December 2nd.

GB moves up to 13th OA ahead of NE and the Jets.

If Rodgers plays 65% of the plays, GB gets the Jets 2024 first round pick. Horrible trade for the Jets!

This team is ready to make noise now. They sold this fan base on a new stadium and competitive football. All they got was a PSL bill and bad football.

You’re outnof your mind if you think the fanbase was gonna take another year of “hide the QB” bullshit.

There’s too much talent to waste messing around. I don’t love Rodgers but I wouldn’t watch a minute of a season if they didn’t upgrade QB. Enough is enough.

A draft pick scoring system says the Jets paid the equivalent of the #3 pick overall for Rodgers. That scoring system is not perfect. It did not account for it being a future pick but lets say it was the equivalent of the #9 overall. If the Jets make the Superbowl then I would say it was a good trade. If the Jets do not make the Superbowl then there will be questions.

That can't possibly be right. Two years ago the 49ers traded the 12th overall pick plus 2 additional first rounders for 3rd overall. Valuewise the Jets traded a little more than 2 2nds for Rodgers - maybe 2 2nds and a 3rd. That comes no where near the value of a top 10 pick IMO.

My opinion:

Jets make the superbowl - the majority of the fanbase (me included) will be satisfied no matter what else happens.
Jets have an entertaining offense and Rodgers plays into the 2024 season - I think most of us will be satisfied but still grumble about the 1st.
Jets have an entertaining offense and Rodgers retires - I think most of us will be ok with the trade but blame Joe Douglas for not getting a better deal.
Jets continue to suck and Rodgers gets benched/feigns an injury - same as above but relieved we don't have to give up a first.
Jets still suck and Rodgers retires - worst case scenario - we want Joe Douglas and Saleh gone and bern hired as the new GM.

I mean lets be realistic about this trade

Rodgers will play well and have Jets in the Playoffs and meet the 65% criteria. But of course he will get injured around game 15 causing him to miss Playoffs and we get blown out in round 1.

Then he retires in off-season and we lose 1st round pick.

Basically the most Jets thing ever.
