I find Rodgers refreshing. He’s a pretty honest dude. If anyone is sick of hearing about him, that’s on the media and the people consuming it too much. Rodgers didn’t make the Packers draft Jordan Love in the 1st round after the team made the NFC Championship game. Rodgers just went out and won a couple MVPs, and GB has continued to do dumb stuff. They traded Davante Adams out from under him. Give me a break?

He’s 39 and he’s got more high end football in him. I saw a couple cracks in his armor last year with a few uncharacteristic decisions that resulted in picks, but even the season he had last year with a thin and very young WR corps, is the best QB play the Jets would have had since probably 2002 with Chad Pennington. It’s a no brainer. This isn’t Brett Favre part two. The league is much different and protects QBs more than ever.

Another article written by someone who doesn't understand leverage. First off, just because Rodgers wants to be a Jet does not mean they have to trade for him. If the demands are out of hand they can look for lesser options. Second, if they can't reach a deal the Packers are going to keep him on their roster all year and pay him to not play? Or get a big cap penalty if he retires?

Funny how in the NHL we hear "The Blackhawks have no leverage, Kane only wants to play for the Rangers" yet in the NFL it's "Rodgers only wants to play for the Jets so his current team has all the leverage."

It really is crazy how people think the Packers have the leverage. Rodgers said he wants to play for the Jets. That's it. Other teams aren't going to be stepping to the table to trade for him, especially since he said he was at 90% retirement prior to going on his darkness retreat. The Packers may have been using that as some kind of leverage on the Jets, but Rodgers wiped that out yesterday.

They cannot have him on their roster. They don't want him on their roster. Rodgers doesn't want to be on their roster. The organization cannot keep him there. If he is on their roster for the start of training camp, their fans are going to be up in arms as much as Jets fans would be. Why wouldn't a fan say if he is on the team, why isn't he in camp, and you're wasting an asset.

There really isn't much leverage on each side at this point. Maybe the Packers do have a little leverage since the Jets don't really have other options, but your players will see how you are treating a franchise great and think to themselves that they're going to treat me worse, cause I'm not even close to Rodgers level with the team. Is that a message you want to send to free agents too?

I'd put final offer on the table for 48 hours. If GB wants to play games, pivot to Tannehill. Everyone and their grandmother went on and on about how the Jets D with league-average QB play would be a playoff threat. Tannehill is solid, and would give the team enough cap and resources remaining to continue building the team (some OL, another DT, a FS).

Both teams, depending on how you look at it, have "leverage." But only one of those teams can walk away. Green Bay needs to be reminded of that.

Rodgers? “Honest?” Really?

That’s not a word I have ever heard said about Aaron Rodgers.

There’s not many athletes who open up like he does in interviews with the right people. He’s been very transparent and upfront about a lot of stuff with guys who are honest back with him…Joe Rogan and Pat McAfee, in particular. They don’t try to twist words or pick out sound bites on him.

I’m really happy Slayton is back. Is he a #1? No, but he has a connection with Jones, can stretch the field with his speed, and he doesn’t prevent us from getting a True #1WR.

I’m really impressed with Jones, Saquan, and Slayton as a whole. They were drafted by the old regime, were basically told “prove it” or had a foot out the door, but they played their asses off and are sticking around. That’s a tremendous amount of character and how you build a culture.

I think next year is going to be a lot of fun for both teams.

Slayton in particular. He didn’t even have a spot in the lineup at first. I think he was almost cut before the season even started.

I think it will be pick 43 this year, and a third that becomes a 2 or a first in 2024, conditions like make the playoffs and or return for second year.

I don’t think the Jets give up pick 13 this year, they need to draft a tackle.
eff GB, no effin picks
AR overrated.
zero capitulation
he can bite me
see who is still an option
possible Stafford better, cheaper
Tannehil even mo cheaper

If rodgers retires the packers get a $40 million dead cap hit. They desperately need to move him.
All the more reason to say no, and make GB choke on his contract, would serve them right for being extreme

These are my thoughts too.

We just went through this for 2 weeks with Kane. Reports were Chicago wanted a 1st and more. End result, conditional picks based on team performance.

The Packers don't want his cap charge on their books. They want to play Love. They want to build a younger roster. They want to move on, those are Rodgers words.

Pick 43 (2nd)
Conditional 3rd in 2024 (Becomes a 2 if the Jets make the playoffs, becomes a 1 if they go to the Superbowl OR if Rodgers plays a 2nd year for the Jets).

Then the play is to move down the draft in the 1st round. Get back another pick. Needs are OT, C, DT, LB, WR (to a lesser extent). The thing is that they have an equalizer now. Rodgers will pre-read the defense, get into the right play. The defense can play free and emphasize the talent already there.
eff all that
7th round pick 2023
plus CONDITIONAL pick(s) 2 yrs down the road based on how much he plays and production
no production, no more compensation

I'm perfectly fine with the Elijah Moore trade. Kid hadn't accomplished a damn thing in his career and goes full diva last season in the midst of the best stretch of play all season. Toxic personality. Happy to let someone else pay the Jets to make him their problem.

Well Stafford has won as many Super Bowls as Rodgers and he won it with a strong defence and Kupp. Jets have the D but who would fill Kupp's role?

Jets are looking to get draft compensation back in the deal if Rodgers decides not to play in 2024.

I think it's a smart thing to do. Rodgers said he was 90% retired before his darkness retreat. That couldn't have sat well with the Jets since I'd guess they were looking at 2 years of him and not 1.

Hopefully he goes out like Brady.... changes teams and wins a Super Bowl in year 1.

I do not care what happens after that.

Commanders have at least 2 bids for $6 billion. Hope whoever the new owners are change the name of the team. More importantly I hope Woody thinks its time to cash in and sell the team.
