Would love any of Provorov, Sanheim, Konecny, or Patrick on the Hawks. I doubt the first 3 are doable but maybe Strome for Patrick as a change of scenery trade could work.

Why would they want to keep Hart ??? He looks like he got Steve Mason Syndrome or Rick DiPietroitis.

It's the same core group of defenseman though. And they're all young-ish. So what gives?

1) Most of them have played significant time and we roughly know what they really project to be now
2) The whole team (aside from a few guys) had a terrible year relatively speaking, so we're down on them right now.

If the flyers are listening to Provorov offers that is good news bc it should only mean Eichel. But I don’t really believe that.

Flyers also have an aging core and outside of Couts I am ok moving any of those guys for cap and bc they need a change.

No goalie had a good year this year for the flyers. I think it has to do with the goalies, D, system - all of it. Hart started to look normal at the end but got injured. His glove side got exposed at a time that there was no practice time and the rest of the team was lost covid and really struggling so it snow balled. They pulled him from the lineup to work on the glove side and things greatly improved. The coaches didn’t handle things well there at all though.

just watching the goals given up. The entire skating group forgot even the basics of defense. Major failings of that coach staff.

JVR would be great for you guys

Yeah, I like the idea of JVR in Edmonton.

Don't love the 7 mill cap hit though. What's the Flyers goals next season? Would taking a guy like Neal back be an option? I know yall are pretty tight to the cap, but if you're looking for a development / rebuild year could be palatable with retention?

Also, what's the deal with Carter Hart? Obviously he's apparently available, but what would the costs there be like?

Can't imagine that's possible - no reason we wouldn't just keep JVR rather than use his cap space on a lesser player.

I'd imagine Fletcher's plan is to compete. After all only a year ago, we were near top of the NHL for most of the season.

I appreciate you actually watching and understanding the games instead of the typical "don't know why flyers would keep this guy he sucks... also, how much to get them to my team?".

Carter Hart realistically shouldn't ne available unless it's in a package for a Gibson type. We have no one in the system ready to go yet, and as has been stated ad nauseum, both Flyers goalies got absolutely shelled because of an incredibly stupid half man, half zone defensive scheme that allowed players to walk right to the front of the net for High danger chances. I'm not saying Hart didn't have some stinkers - he definitely wasn't great - but he didn't play as poorly as his numbers would suggest, either.

That AV is heading into this season as the head coach is criminal. That Michel Therrien still has an NHL level job is an actual atrocity. This is the most incompetent coaching group I've seen behind the Flyers bench in 30 years, and we've had some poor coaches.

Yeah, I personally wouldn't give up on Hart if I were you guys. I think on front of a better defense he looks like a Rockstar again personally. But that's mostly just from cherry picking highlights and advanced stats watching. All Philly goaltending this year got scored on like twice a much as expected in "high danger shots", my feel is a lot of these opportunities are wide open looks with puck movement compared to say a rebound in the crease where a guys fighting for body position on more competent teams.

NHL Goalie Statistics

But I think these tools aren't the end all be all, figured perhaps Flyers fans had more insight.

They allowed the most goals in the league, all their goalies had sub-.900 save percentages, so was the defense in front of them bad as well? Are the Flyers looking to upgrade on defense?

The goalies both had a bad season and the defence unilaterally had a bad season to a man. It was a calamity.

Haven’t seen any of this under the radar excellence. Every time I watch him seems like he makes a few dumb plays or is out of position

Yeah, I feel the same way, but then he has a few flashes of brilliance and everyone forgets that he doesn't always play like that.

Weird. I'd have thought they'd want to discuss Farabee. I mean I know he's untouchable but he's probably the best thing from this season for them to talk about.

If you've had a really bad season and one thing was positive, you don't trade the positive.

Whats the price on Philippe Myers?
This... Ever since they played together at the WJC I've wanted Ottawa to target Myers as a long term partner for Chabot. I know sens fans wanted Giroux but Ottawa should be going for guys like Patrick and Myers.

It would be silly to not listen to offers on your third best defenseman when the team bled not just goals, but chances last year.

The smarter thing to do, as many have already said, would just get a non dinosaur coach. But it's the Flyers, and we don't do smart things.
Well we tried getting a younger, non-traditional coach with Hakstol and that didn't work either. I don't think the coaching is the problem considering we've had several coaches over the past 5 years and the same core of players has disappointed year after year. On-ice personnel changes are necessary.

You are correct. It was extremely easy to get to the front of the net against us this year. If you sent someone behind the net from the left, the left D would chase and the right D would activate to cut you off behind the net. Send a pass to the slot and there's no coverage. It was embarrassing. It legitimately reminded me of the old NHL 95 move that was a guaranteed goal.

I doubt Fletcher moves Couturier but with one year left and lots of a balls in the air, it could make sense if he brought in a young defenseman with top pair potential.

Wonder if Colorado would consider something with Byram if they fall to Vegas.
