Why are people lumping in Florida with teams like Boston and Carolina? They’re a .500 team so far this year. Why the heck would we be penciling that in as some kind of automatic loss?

I also don’t get the logic of assuming the devils can’t beat any of these top teams coming up on the schedule when even worse teams than the devils have recently beat them.

It makes no sense. What kind of wildly warped expectations did some of you develop during the streak? And how on earth can you watch a team go on an extended historic run that ties/breaks franchise records and then completely throw out any benefit of the doubt with one losing streak?

I don’t get it.

Florida has been one of the better team’s this in terms of shot rates. They are better than their record so far.

Yes, these games are winnable. They are also loseable.

We really going to act like everything is fine if they lose again on Saturday?
It depends upon how they play. They can’t directly control the win or loss. They can control the effort and make good decisions. Also define “fine”. Compared to the last few seasons I’d argue that if they lose by five on Saturday that everything is fine. They are a competent team now. Last season and for a few before that they weren’t . They need to fix a few things. Get Bratt and Jack a big shooting wing who can create some space and keep up with them. Get Plaat back and play him with Hischier and either Mercer or Zetterlund.

I truly don't get the "schedule hysteria"...its really odd behavior

Team doesn't have Andersen + Aho but yeah let's pencil that in as a win automatically. God, you guys need new hobbies if you're like this with sports.
I just hope the team doesn't have the same mentality. Playing well but not getting the reward with a W. What's a good solution? Panic!!!!!

I think it's totally fair to roast Severson for that

The Flyers looked like they were content to nurse that game to overtime.

Now some of that might have been because we're much better than them/were outplaying them and they couldn't do shit, but they looked totally content to hang on for OT and just let the puck hit Hart or pray that it keeps hittin ghim.

They had no power plays, I don't think they had any O-zone in the period to that point, at least nothing sustained and that was literally the only legitimate scoring chance the Flyers had in the 3rd period. That was it.

And it's a scoring chance that wouldn't happened if not for that.

Am I reaching or does Severson come off really unbothered here?

You don't think... that article the other day, was about himself?

Stop with the "sniper" talk. The team has plenty of finishing. Hughes, Hischier, Bratt, Holtz, Shara, Zetterlund - all good finishers.

Do you think a sniper is player that can magically score on a night like tonight? Doesn't work like that. They go just as cold as everyone else but they score a hat trick in a game you win by five goals.
So Holtz and Zetterlund are NHL finishers? 10 goals in 57 NHL games is good enough for you to make that call?

See, that's the thing, I know it's not magic. It's very hard to do but guys who can do it are valuable. This team could use one of those guys.

That's the Flyers entire MO this season, play collapsing D and let Hart make the saves he can see. Torts did it the 2011/2012 year where Hank won the Vezina. Basically what we did with Hynes tenure except it actually works versus super aggressive teams like us if the goalie is playing out of his mind.

Lindy blasted him so bad it took the media people a few seconds to recover
Yoooo he went in. But it was a bad and careless play. And those have been the difference makers in these losses. I expected Lindy to address that internally versus putting him on blast, lol.

If we play like this every game we will win more often than not. Our best game in a couple of weeks. As I said before, the law of averages came into play tonight. We are still fine. It's a long ass season and these stretches happen.
Exactly

It's a market correction or an evening of the percentages. We literally no-showed in Philly not even 2 weeks ago and walked away with two points. In fact, we pretty much breezed through the game once we got some goals.

So we're even now.

Now we probably won't outplay a team THIS MUCH a lot of the times, because this is literally one of the worst teams in the league, but we played Dallas pretty good (much better team) but just couldn't really generate too many high quality scoring chances in that one.

The power play looked better on the first opportunity, but it was lousy on the last two/5 on 3. We had nothing but O-zone time, but it looked like we were just being way too patient and taking it way too easy.

I actually thought when we were on the power play, those last two, that was some of the most non-threatening scoring chances were getting all game. I'm not even sure if we had a shot on goal on that 5 on 3?

Severson didnt play the final ~9 or so minutes of the game after that turnover by the way.
I would say definitely good odds he's a healthy scratch Saturday

And good odds might only be 40%-50%, but if you asked me a week ago what are the odds Severson is a healthy scratch in a week, I would say the odds were less than 5%.

He isn't getting scratched Saturday. They need to win and handicapping yourself before the game starts isn't wise
