Nobody would have complained about that because it's standard practice to sign a Cutter grade prospect to their ELC at the end of their first college season.

And Cutter wouldn't give a shit about there being a new internally hired GM.
The organization made him a promise. The organization is still the same even if one boss has been replaced, why would he trust an organization that just lied to his face? Why would he trust a GM that pulled back on a promise that had been made to him by the organization.

I really don't want to sit down and figure this out. But I think you got your wish.
It's a max of 850k in A bonuses and 2.5 in B bonuses.
It’s still a broken promise. Gauthier was promised a Flyers contract that would pay him Flyers money and take a year off his Flyers ELC. He told teams he was only willing to be drafted by a team if they were ok with this plan.
The flyers failed to fulfill. It doesn’t matter what member of the org made said promise. If you wanted that player to still be committed to the organization, you would uphold the promise.

It's been clear that this whole organization is motivated by grievance, just look at how the players responded in their exit interviews last year about being 'written off' after two hideous dysfunctional season. They're an organization that's begging to be backed into a corner and then want to fight you about it.

Listen you when you have an option to sign a high draft pick but it gets in the way of you potentially signing prized free agents like Garrett Hathaway & Ryan Phoeling you just have to do what you have to do there. It’s understandable.
This makes the most sense for sure. Flyers assumed they could just brush off what Gauthier wanted with that explanation, and obviously that was a mistake. Wow. Kid went from"I was built to be a Flyer" to this. Bad move by the GM. Take the penalty, keep the no.5 overall pick happy.

It’s an ownership issue. When there is so much incompetence, it’s takes mandated changes from the top.
Comcast is on its second CEO of the team, one that doubled down on giving control to the country club that created the mess.
As much bad PR for Comcast as possible is the key here. This team isn’t doing shit without massive changes, and Comcast is far too scared to ever rock the alumni boat.

If you think nobody would have complained that, as their first act of business, Jones and Briere rushed to sign their top prospect ASAP to get him to the NHL, while incurring cap overages, all just for Gauthier to play during the first year of a supposed rebuild, then I have a bridge to sell you.
Farabee wasn't signed in the weeks after the team declared to be rebuilding. That is the difference in outrage.
You're making this (alleged) promise out to be made by the corporate entity of the Flyers rather than any actual human being. That is where things fall apart.

Its just. I miss cheering for this team, but they had made me hate them. It was a really fun hobby that’s now bordering on irrational fixation.

I'm just generally curious what folks who are ripping the org to shreds want to do. From a fan perspective just going to games its been a much better experience, i've generally been entertained at games.
They do dumb shit, everyone does dumb shit but its easy to continue throwing more shit at shit, but what new shit are we coming up with as a way to crawl out of the shit abyss?
