It is only up to our speculation as we don't know the exact conversations, but I'd pin it on the GM (Chuck) for being responsible for promises of a contract, not one of the GM's assistant. It's not a promise broken if it's Chuck who made the promise and Danny who didn't.

Not that I blame Gauthier for being pissed. But I also don't blame Briere for doing what he deemed to be the best instead of adhering to his horrible predecessor's promises.

The alternative complaint here is "Briere rushed into giving Cutter an ELC just because Chuck promised so! And now we have cap overages! Nothing has changed!"
Nobody would have complained about that because it's standard practice to sign a Cutter grade prospect to their ELC at the end of their first college season.

Nobody complained when it happened with Farabee

And Cutter wouldn't give a shit about there being a new internally hired GM.

The organization made him a promise. The organization is still the same even if one boss has been replaced, why would he trust an organization that just lied to his face? Why would he trust a GM that pulled back on a promise that had been made to him by the organization.

It’s still a broken promise. Gauthier was promised a Flyers contract that would pay him Flyers money and take a year off his Flyers ELC. He told teams he was only willing to be drafted by a team if they were ok with this plan.

The flyers failed to fulfill. It doesn’t matter what member of the org made said promise. If you wanted that player to still be committed to the organization, you would uphold the promise.

last time they spoke was on a zoom call after the world championships according to EF.

On the zoom call Conversation about turning pro, the flyers said they couldn't do it at the time because his bonus would have put them over the cap and they didnt want an overage this year according to EF.

Combo of rookie stooge GM who thinks he's a moneyballer, dinosaur asshole coach, and just a little bit of Fletcher's residual idiocy. This is chef's kiss stuff.

Take a bow, Comcast Spectacor. You're the best company on earth.

It's been clear that this whole organization is motivated by grievance, just look at how the players responded in their exit interviews last year about being 'written off' after two hideous dysfunctional season. They're an organization that's begging to be backed into a corner and then want to fight you about it.

The hill I will die on daily.

It’s an ownership issue. When there is so much incompetence, it’s takes mandated changes from the top.

Comcast is on its second CEO of the team, one that doubled down on giving control to the country club that created the mess.

As much bad PR for Comcast as possible is the key here. This team isn’t doing shit without massive changes, and Comcast is far too scared to ever rock the alumni boat.

If you think nobody would have complained that, as their first act of business, Jones and Briere rushed to sign their top prospect ASAP to get him to the NHL, while incurring cap overages, all just for Gauthier to play during the first year of a supposed rebuild, then I have a bridge to sell you.

Farabee wasn't signed in the weeks after the team declared to be rebuilding. That is the difference in outrage.

You're making this (alleged) promise out to be made by the corporate entity of the Flyers rather than any actual human being. That is where things fall apart.

Umm... the plan from the beginning was for Gauthier to play one year at BC and then turn pro. The board would have been perfectly fine with that happening. Someone may have mentioned here or there that they wished that they waited but there wouldn't be any major complaining about it. It was the plan until it wasn't and then the Flyers f***ed around and found out.

Only one mistake, and I am told that mistake is only a "maybe."

If this all happened because JVR wasn't traded last deadline, Fletcher may be the most destructive force that's happened to the Flyers since...okay I can't finish that joke out of bad taste, but GOD D*MNIT

The same men that hired Fletcher, that advised him, and worked in collaboration - a word constantly spewed out - are still around.

Its just. I miss cheering for this team, but they had made me hate them. It was a really fun hobby that’s now bordering on irrational fixation.

What major changes do you propose...Is this still all about Clarke, Holmgren, Dean Lombardi?

I'm just generally curious what folks who are ripping the org to shreds want to do. From a fan perspective just going to games its been a much better experience, i've generally been entertained at games.

They do dumb shit, everyone does dumb shit but its easy to continue throwing more shit at shit, but what new shit are we coming up with as a way to crawl out of the shit abyss?

Before we get too far with this...

As a board can we find out if the fact that he told teams before the draft he would play one season in college if the team required it was actually reported or if it was just the random guy on here that knows a guy?

I don't remember anymore.
i'm pretty sure he said it himself upon being drafted, that it was the plan.
