If a player I’ve been telling everyone will be a cornerstone of a cup contender doesn’t want to play for a coach that has had issues with numerous other players (including another one of our top prospects Frost), I’d probably take a major step back and take a long hard look at if that guy is the right coach in 2024 for this team given where it’s at.

There’s a lot of assumptions being made in that statement, but coaches are a dime a f***ing dozen.

It takes a lot to acquire a 5th overall pick type talent. I choose the talent over the coach 100 times out of 100.

Lol, ask Ottawa fans about "dime a dozen" coaches. Or Buffalo fans...

Appreciate the source. I still don’t think this has anything to do with farabees current view on the team/torts though. This was from last season at what was quite literally the lowest point of his career so far so I can imagine why he would be frustrated.

This year he has played some of the best hockey of his career and torts has sung his praises multiple times. Again, I’m not some huge fan of torts I’m just saying a team with a roster makeup this bad doesn’t win the way they are if the coach doesn’t have the room. That coupled with farabee taking on a leadership role with rookies and allowing them to live with him etc.. says to me he enjoys playing here rather than not, regardless of disagreements with torts from time to time. Hell, even that article says he didn’t want a trade necessarily they just needed to figure out the situation.

So what are we realistically getting with Drysdale?

Current level?

Ceiling?

How concerning are the injuries?

Anyone?

Could have to do with Farabee not coming off ADR surgery this year.

Torts has granted other players (Couturier and Atkinson) time to get up to speed and leeway and yet Farabee was not allowed anything close to that with Torts going as far as telling him he can’t hide behind it.

It’s bullshit.

Beef probably exaggerated by saying that Farabee was “done” with Torts but Torts has done his bullshit benching of Farabee this year also.

The rift will potentially show up again.

The juice isn’t worth the squeeze with Torts.

Often injured, turns puck over at crucial moments, small, cannot bring puck up.

We fleeced you guys
Long-time Ducks fan here, and this is neither the feeling nor the point of view of most Ducks fans. Drysdale is an exceptional young player: great skater, good passer, scores a handful of goals, and was a very welcome sight when he returned from LTIR last week. Can absolutely bring the puck up. His knock is that he has trouble staying healthy. But when he's on the ice, he's outstanding.

Ducks fan coming in peace.

Drysdale is a great teammate and fan favorite. Some think/thought he could be a #1 but I think more realistically he's a 2/3 with offensive upside. Good skater, but has always lacked defensively. We were hoping the defensive side would improve with maturity but he missed a huge chunk of that maturation/development time due to the injuries. Unsure how much that hurts his overall progress.

Injuries are a concern which is why I think the 2nd rounder was included, insurance. Might end up being a fluke, might be a pattern. Too early to tell.

There’s no reasonable positive post-draft spin, so it basically comes down to what you thought of him pre-draft. From the sources I trust around here, they were less impressed than the hockey community as a whole. No one questions the skating. That’s clearly fantastic.

I would say at this point, hope for a top 4 guy. It’s not a lock, even if healthy.

People kept telling me the players love playing for Torts, but the list of players who have had a beef with him is growing at a pretty frantic pace.
Who? I’m sorry guys but I’m just legitimately trying to understand where you guys are getting all of this information from… The moves today have had nothing to do with torts from what we’ve heard so far. The team has been in good shape so far this season compared to our and everyone else’s expectations. I’m not saying the farabee+torts issue can’t/wont happen again but the stance that nobody wants to play here anymore and we stopped respecting ex players as family makes 0 sense to me. All we hire is ex players and everyone complains about the old boys club but apparently we don’t treat old players good? Like pick a side here come on

One, it was before the draft and I don't think we can compare the Flyers organization and the Coyotes management. The management of the Coyotes is a clown show and I understand Michkov a little for having informed the team that he did not want to be selected by them.
What Gauthier did is worse. But even if it wasn’t, each player’s upside should affect the risk a team is ready to take on.

I mean there’s Twitter accounts that clearly knew something with regards to Gauthier for months now that pointed to Torts. Russ Joy said that he heard it was related to Torts.

It’s not some random fabrication.

It’s also common sense.

York, Farabee, Frost, Hayes, DeAngelo, and I’m sure there’s others have had beef’s with Torts.

Isn't this guy actually pretty much the one semi effective defender on Anaheim? Or at least has been less in the red?

Very small sample size over the past 15 months due to injuries but in the previous season he was a defensive liability. He looks to have improved but too little games to really tell.
