Imagine thinking the kid is a brat because he doesn't want to come play for a shit coach on an organization that has no plan, and is banking their success on the hope that a potential Russian superstar who can't be here for what...? 3 more years? Is the savior of the team.

Give me a break. The kid was going to be in development hell here and likely ruin his future earning potential. He's not entitled. He's putting himself in a position to succeed. I'm assuming the high and mighty here are managing the local McDonald's because that's who gave you your first break, and you couldnt break that loyalty. Right?

It's the Flyers messaging after trading the player - but IMO there's a significant difference between "didn't want to play for the Flyers" and going back and forth between saying "yes I do" and "no I don't" multiple times.

EDIT: and refuse to meet/communicate with the team as well.

I hate this organization as much as anyone.

not even close pal

my hate is unmatched

This…100%. What an embarrassment so many on this board are. The Flyers have made a boatload of mistakes, but taking the side of this brat?! WTF?!

I certainly hope you have never done anything in your own best interest. That would be very hypocritical of you.

Sports are a mercenary business. These guys have one short chance to make all the money most will make in their lives, often at great physical cost for their remaining decades. The Flyers themselves demonstrate zero loyalty to anyone but Clarke and the cronies, why should anyone reciprocate?

Maybe I've misunderstood this, but from what I can tell, he wanted to be here. They drafted him. Something changed and he didn't, then stuck to it. There was only one change.

The only specific rumor we have is that it was Tortorella. That doesn't mean it was. But it's what we currently have.

He gave no indication before the draft that he didn’t want to play in Philadelphia. Maybe Torts was part of the reason but there has to be more factors at play here.
Brieres interview makes it seem like he was ok/positive in pre draft meetings, possibly thru that first training camp, but that he had changed his mind "multiple times" so after he told them of his intention not to sign following the May World Championships, Briere said it was kept secret to see if he would change his mind again.

BTW, one can certainly have a take of Gauthier being entitled or a bitch, but that can also not be mutually exclusive in the reasons for acting that way towards the Flyers imo. In fact making sure this is a "one-off" and not a growing sentiment towards the franchise is prob the most important thing here imo.

Anaheim got a better player than Gauthier in Mintyukov at 10th overall. AND they got Gauthier.

I actually think Gauthier could be a better player in Anaheim than here. They don't need to pretend he's a top 6 center when they have Carlsson and McTavish (I think Gauthier is unplayable with the latter though haha). They have better young playmakers and a chance for a dynamite PP. He can be a support scorer instead of Flyers Draisaitl.

With Quebec absolutely , still loved him tho.

So you've never quit a job before your company hired their replacement, right? When you're driving and miss your exit, you never swerve over instead of just taking the next exit?

Be better than this, Benny. This organization is a pile of shit. The team is going nowhere fast. Why the hell would he want to stay?
