Imagine thinking the kid is a brat because he doesn't want to come play for a shit coach on an organization that has no plan, and is banking their success on the hope that a potential Russian superstar who can't be here for what...? 3 more years? Is the savior of the team.

Give me a break. The kid was going to be in development hell here and likely ruin his future earning potential. He's not entitled. He's putting himself in a position to succeed. I'm assuming the high and mighty here are managing the local McDonald's because that's who gave you your first break, and you couldnt break that loyalty. Right?

All true but he can STILL go f*** himself.

Briere did not say that Gauthier changed his mind multiple times. He worded it confusingly, but he said he changed it once, a few months after the draft.

Yeah I listened to the interview again - starting at 1:20 he mentions "he already changed his mind" and trails off quickly. I originally took that as "he already changed his mind again" rather than the initial "changing of his mind" shortly after the draft.

Ill never understand the concept that a player who is drafted needs to have some sense of sincere dedication to that team for...reasons?

Much like you or me, he has his own interests in personal preferences. He's not a robot who just has to be happy that he got drafted. Only in professional sports ( and hockey on particular) is there some sort of secret blood oath taken before you walk up on the draft stage.

I was at Duffy's eating some really good BBQ ribs. I laughed so hard I spilled my beer all over.....when one of the TVs announced it. Everyone was waiting for the Michigan/Wash. game

As, I of all people, stated does Gauthier have the will to power of the Flyers org.? I guess he does.

Drysdale........all I can think of is Don of the Dodgers....he was a good pitcher, really good. This kid?

And a 2025 draft pick, 2nd round.

Seriously . c'mon tell me it ain't so Joe.

On the one hand, f*** the kid for not even hearing out the plan from the team that drafted him. But on the other hand, good for him. I wish more players would take a hard-lined approach towards organizations that have pretty terrible tack records. Maybe then the NHL wouldn't be run largely by an old boys club that continually rotates in proven failures from other organizations.

Edit: Also comical that a team that is supposedly rebuilding would take back a player on his second contract instead of opting for more picks. Rebuild... right...

Loyalty is good and all but sometimes it bites you in the butt.
