Not sure how I feel about this. With the Flyers luck Cutter will be a perennial 50 goal scorer and Drysdale will be injury prone

However we needed a high end defenseman in the system and we weren’t likely to get it this year. I’m hesitantly okay with this

ETA: I now see he didn’t want to play for us. I suppose we did great in this situation to get Drysdale and an early 30’s pick. Not really a fan of Cutter after this

And I think he's wise beyond his years. This franchise is awful at cultivating and fostering talent. Gauthier's potential just went up getting out of Philly.
I wont tell a Flyers fan what to think about their own club; but Id laugh at Gauthier and say 'yeah, every club has raised a Lindros, right?'

Prestige isnt lost on athletes - no matter how long ago; Babe Ruth is still brought up to this day by Yankees players lol

At the end of the day the Flyers lucked out not signing a player whos clearly in it for himself and not the team and got a player in Drysdale who now has a chip on his shoulder because he actually had the balls to commit to Anaheim (like a real bad man, Sponge)

Listen, I am relieved that I don't have to listen to fans and media fawn over a winger playing center who likes to shoot the puck from the Andromeda Galaxy with pace/IQ issues. Those people will suddenly excoriate him, while I don't really care. I don't have to listen to people pretending Tortorella isn't toxic. And I don't have to listen to the Flyers touted as some sought after destination. Yay?

There's no way this was the best value long-term. They wanted a piece to add to their playoff run NOW. Even if Drysdale has talent and is young, we're talking about someone with lost development and a non-ELC. Is this a PP QB predicated move (lol)? There's a good chance they pissed away 5th overall value (multiple times).

And it leaves them with absolutely no center depth long-term. You had to squint and pretend Gauthier could be a 1C to believe in this pretend rebuild. Now? If they knew about this for a year, then it makes everything about Frost's handling -- like he was a luxury -- so much worse. That's the most likely ~2nd line (let alone top line) center under the age of 31 in the organization.

It just doesn't make sense to not respond to them at all. I mean we don't know how the meeting/conversation went last may. If he truly informed them and said Final Decision back in May, is it really ghosting?

Zero way the Ducks, their 2025 2nd, and Drysdale were their best options. Sending him to Anaheim could easily be petty revenge
This is a guy they’ve been promoting as the major piece to their rebuild (they’re not rebuilding) besides Michkov. They’re not doing this today unless they have, at the very least, what they want. Not many teams have 21YO d-men who play >20 min per night on the table, either. Of course, he is on the table himself for reasons.

I know everyone is circlejerking that Tortorella and the Flyers are awful, but this is just bizarre. This trade sucks.

Who is Cutter Gauthier to make a demand like this? For what possible reasons?

The Flyers aren’t the 1991 Quebec Nordiques. Nothing about this makes sense.
