It was unprofessional but it's nothing to get up in arms about IMO. Much worse things have been said on hot mics.

Some of the responses are peculiar. Of the many times it has been appropriate to play the "wow are we really offended over something so small" card, this isn't it.

Their PR guy got caught in a hot mic moment being a dick towards a reporter. The Flyers took action. I don't see the problem. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy gets canned. Actions have consequences.

Who cares...we live in such dumb times that everyone take offense at so little!
I kind of agree generally with this.

BUT, that being said, we’re not talking about individuals here, we’re talking about a professional organization worth hundreds of millions of dollars. I’ll just take the class route when these are involved…

Eh, I think it has to do with the current state of affairs. Eggs and bread have tripled in price, but I’m supposed to care about someone saying “how many times is she going to ask this f***ing question?” The minimal outrage for that person saying what they did and the response hits flat for most people, that’s all (right or wrong). I think for most people it’s a “who gives a f***, who’s this apology even for” kind of thing. Just my two cents.

Hathaway signed in Philly? I wonder what thought process brought him to sign there. What kind of considerations did he make?

Being married many years, I've mastered the art of apologizing for things I didn’t even do that I wouldn't be sorry for even if I did them

Only the media are allowed to do the trash talking.
Not to mention the guy who alone can fix it

Agree to disagree. Not sure what eggs and bread prices have to do with the Flyers organization.

Shouldn't she also apologize for redundantly asking the same question over again?

Also didn't she say the "Flyers suck" on the same hot mic?
Well she’s asking the question to get a quote and have him talk, not because she’s legitimately intrigued about why he chose Philly. It’s her job.

But when sports organizations tries to get involved with societal issues, it's "stick to sports."

So orgs can't be involved in societal issues, but when a team apologizes for how it handled an interview with a player, it's "who cares about this sports stuff when we have bigger things to worry about?"

I'm just wondering what you actually want sports teams to cover and do, especially in the offseason? And I'm asking you in particular since you gave a personal anecdote.
