they'll be better. I think people are underselling the Flyers here. They are a playoff team. Not the best of them, but they aren't some group of scrubs either.

Yep, they hate their coach and goaltending is uber-questionable. Aside from that and the huge sap the penguins delivered in each of the wins, games were semi-competitive.

We also.had games that were blowouts so players got less minutes. Itll be fine. Theres other issues that need to be corrected. Not worried about them being tired...injured? Yes.
I think fatigue is an important variable to consider. But to your point, as it pertains to nagging injuries and such, having to play more games only exacerbates that issue. Maybe it prevents Geno from fully healing because he has to play another game, and take a few more hits. Which in turn softens him up for the next game or series.

Or maybe too many games off would have taken Murray out of his groove and the extra games are keeping him sharp.

You're wrong because it's a war of attrition also. An extra game makes it harder for us to get rest and to be at a 100%. There's long term residual effects involved. No one has played more games than us in the past three seasons. Eventually that will take a toll.

All games aren’t equal and say we win Sunday I don’t think there is much of a difference between having say a 5 day break vs a 3 day break.

Of course it’s better to win when you can but it’s not as big of deal as you make it out. No one else probably took it as easy as us at times during the season.

True..but who knows what happens next series. Maybe that one is 5 games. Was 7 last year..7 in ECF..still won cup. With alot of guys banged up.

Not really worried about Geno, think he will be fine. Kessel is the problem. Its been over 2 months now

I think more rest is a good thing. I'm not to worried about MM being rusty.
Oh I thought we were just making shit up, I wasn't making a real prediction.

I don't think anyone is legitimately saying it's better we lost today. I just think a lot of people are way overreacting.

But here's the thing, we have no guarantee we'll win on sunday. At minimum we're playing six games. I think tonight was very illuminating . I just don't think if we're having this much trouble with Philly, we can beat the best the league has to offer. And we certainly can't IMO if we have to go deep against a team such as philly while they're likely to enjoy some R and R.

I don't think Kessel is getting better. Most bone injuries are 6 weeks tops. If he hasn't recovered by now its soft tissue, and it needs surgery after the season.

I would have rather won, but I think going against either Columbus or Caps with a little more fight in the series may turn out being more positive.

I also don’t think this was bad a loss as people wanna say.

In both of the losses we scored 1 and 2 goals. Needed those Murray shutouts to come in games like this.

If we cant get our typical 5 goal game on Sunday...Murray has to be locked in. Actually rather have Philly get more chances early on and Murray makes the big saves. Then we go down and score again.

Gonna have disappointing losses in the playoffs..use them as something to build from..improve on..instead of repeating the same things. Team has been good overall this series but there are some adjustments id make going forward.

So far so good. Up 3-2 in round 1(started 3-1 so it will be hard to lose 3 in a row..cant see it). But there are things we can do to make this a cup winning team.

As for Sprong again, hes done everything asked of him when sent down. Didnt pout..put up a ppg since being down. Still peppering goalies with shots..scoring tonight in first playoff game. Id like to root for WBS, but this year I want them out quick. Bring up the black aces. Be very curious to see what happens if we start struggling to score in a series(whether its next round, or Boston for example) if Sully refuses to give Sprong a chance. Will say alot about him going forward. Hes icing Sheary, Simon, and ZAR...so its not like we dont have an opening(especially with Kessel not having his normal shot)

-I was looking to next series as I thought this series was over 2 days ago. And we laid a big fat egg tonight. Maybe the players did the same. I just cant get over how we lost. This was a choke the size of the Rangers loss earlier this season when the entire team quit in the 3rd period on Desmith and we lost. Overconfidence, choke, tired, we blew it. On to Game 6.

at best, they are done in 5. So at most, it's a 2 game difference if we lose sunday and win in 7. But we haven't lost on Sunday, and they still haven't won game 5.

Of course the main factors were the absence of Horny and the obviousness that we lacked any sense of overall urgency, but have the board regulars blamed it on ZAR trying to scrap and Oleksiak kind of fighting yet?

Regardless, I think we close it out on Sunday.

The worst part about this game is that we played meh, but were still in position to win and two incredibly stupid plays at the blue line cost us.

People have every right to be pissed, this series is now going two games longer than it should have. The Flyers suck, arguably the weakest team in the playoffs. Really, that whole team is trash outside of Courtier, Gostisbehere, and Patrick.

The Pens beat themselves with head scratching decisions on the ice and lack of intensity.
Anyone who thought we were going to sweep the Flyers was f***ing high.....Especially ones that think that whole team is trash outside of Couts, Ghost & Patrick....

This game is going 1 game longer than it should, not 2.
