Couple of former Flyers lighting the lamp in Arizona tonite, Cousins 2 goals and Luke Schenn 1 goal score their 1st tallies of the preseason.

Watch Nick Cousins have a breakout year now that he's being given an opportunity to play some real minutes in Arizona with better line mates. I wish the Flyers would have given Nick better linemates, instead of VDV and PEB. The youngster Keller has also been very impressive as well.

Fan of both and glad to see Nick doing well. I always felt he had some of the "Rat's" game and maybe he will get his chance to show it out there.

With the Giroux to Wing experiment happening, leads me to believe that Patrick is just about as lock as you can get. If the kid takes off on O and some other things break out, Hakstol has more flexibility at wing if he wants too.

Because you don't experiment Giroux at wing if your centers are: Couts/Lehtera/Flip/Laughton

That ain't getting it done.

They could also look at it that G being on wing gives him more offensive freedom instead of focusing on being back helping out the defense.

:dunno:

It could just a line to put out there when we are inevitably down late in third. Strong in either faceoff circle, possession monster, dominant in zone entries and with teams going into a full turtle mode it would allow G set up on the left side just like on PP. I could get behind this, but flat out G on the wing isn't really something I want to see.

Could also be that they know that Couturier and Giroux are the two locks at center and just tossed them together so that they had more center spots available for these upcoming preseason games where they need to evaluate more centers than there are open spaces for.

Patrick, Lehtera, Filppula, Laughton, Vecchione all need to be decided upon. Patrick is probably safe as a mid6 C, so then the other three are all tested for 4C or bottom 9 wing. Then Vecchione to LV.

Good point. This could also be a motive. Experiment with G on Wing while also getting to look at 1 more center than normal.

While the system was down for the migration.

The Flyers sent Vecchione and Vorobyov down the Lehigh.
1 forward and 1 defensemen left to cut.

Any clarity to your forward lines? I expect big things for you guys. I'm sick of the Rags

Nothing is set in stone yet but my best guess so far..

Lindblom - Giroux - Voracek
Filppula - Couturier - Konecny
Weal - Patrick - Simmonds
Raffl - Laughton - Weise/Lehtera

Provorov - Gudas
Morin - Gostisbehere
MacDonald/Hagg - Sanheim

They've been keeping Raffl - Laughton - Leiere together, starting to wonder if that's not a viable option.
Leier has played well enough that he may not be a lock to clear waivers.
If Hextall thinks that, he's going to move a forward or two by Monday.

I have a very hard time believing that they'll make a trade. Not sure who would want a guy like Lehtera, Read, or Weise.

I would like that to be the 4th line though.

LA just lost Jordan Nolan on waivers and we have made deals with them in the past.

Read for anything to LA could be in the cards.

What about Read? He's part of the numbers problem. He's off the books at the end of the season so maybe you're considering him cut or traded?
Don't care for Weise a little bit. How he hoodwinked Hexy into that four year deal still amazes me. I'd rather keep Leier than either Read or Weise.
