It's frustrating to do your job day in and day out to make sure it's good work so you don't get canned.

And then you go out and read these trash column full of **** and made up opinions and that guy got paid good money to put that out.

I just read an ESPN article where the writer, Rob Vollman, suggested that we trade Sanheim, Morin or Hagg to Pitt for Fleury.

boo that man.

I was going to set off the miscreants on this guy on twitter, but I guess he's behind a paywall to read this crap?

No wonder ESPN is terrible. You have to pay to read idiots type this stuff?

Some teams let young offensively minded players focus on offense, which allows them to reach the NHL faster, but how many of these players subsequently develop a two way game?

Hextall's strategy is to marinate them in juniors and the AHL, which keeps the clock from starting until they're NHL ready, so that you get full benefit of the "cheap" seasons instead of teaching them on the job, and by the time they have real value, they're in the RFA contract.

Not every media article is awful, Sieliski actually had a decent one comparing the Kings roster building with what Hextall is currently doing. And there are few obvious gaffes.

No, they're not all bad. But here's a dubious challenge. Find a good article written by Smallwood or Hayes, two mainstays and elder statesmen of the Philly Sports Journalist, not beat writers. Those two are wretched, and I'd say the norm of writing standards.

Give me back Don Russell!

Now imagine you do the same job that they do, albeit on a smaller scale, for the merest fraction of their money - a fraction so small that you could barely count it as currency - and actually do take care with your work and do a good job, and your newspaper folds, and you find yourself halfway around the world just to get work, sweating through three or four shirts a day, surrounded by the most venomous snakes on Earth.

Have you considered a Mongoose for a pet?

Of course I have - I think it's fair to say that not more than 45 minutes pass in a day since I was 5 years old that I haven't thought about this. I know where to go, generally, if I wanted to do it, but I don't want to contribute in any way to animal trafficking, even if it would make my dream come true. (My dream is actually to have seven and to carry them around everywhere with me in a handbag like Paris Hilton with her posh little dog.)

The worst part is listening them to lecture everyone on how important journalism is and how it's dying because of the internet and people not wanting to pay for content. What they lack in awareness these hacks make up in superiority complexes.

My first name is Rick IRL and that is my avatar basically everywhere else lol
My hero.

We know your first name and where you live. :naughty:

MR. PINK: "Well, that's that, man. Jesus Christ, I was worried about mug shot possibilities as it was. Now he knows a), your name, b) what you look like, c) where you're from, and d) what your specialty is. They're not gonna have to show him a hell of a lot of pictures for him to pick you out".

He's not making a decision until after the ED. I doubt he comes here though. The Flyers have too many numbers upfront for this year. He might get a better shot at playing in the NHL this year elsewhere.

Sam C saying Weal and Flyers agree to length of deal but not dollars
