also agree Laughton being the 4th line center for Vegas. yup. lets move on :sarcasm:

I'm sitting here playing around with Cap Friendly. With the salary cap not rising, if we plan on signing a UFA goalie it seems best that we force LV to take a player of ours who makes decent salary. For example, expose Raffl and protect Laughton. That extra savings looks pretty necessary.

If LV decides to take a cheap option from our expose list (Leier?), the other option to lose salary might be to just buyout Matt Read.

Either way, we are in pretty good shape. Much better than most teams. We have options. Taking on any more salary than just adding a goalie looks awfully difficult. Anyone dreaming of adding a vet Dman, we'd have to lose salary somewhere to make it work. Which, I imagine, will not be easy.

Would be nice to get Raddysh. Could you imagine? Teams would be lining up with trade offers to try and grab one of these kids. Adding Raddysh + Nico/Nolan + Others right off the bat? No one could compete with our pool at that point.

Isn't Raddysh just another Brandon Manning? Undrafted defenseman who put up good numbers as an overager in junior when he was 19 and 20? I'm doubting he's much of an NHL prospect. And I'm sure there are organizations with less competition that Raddysh would prefer to join.

Brandon Manning put up 80+ points and 20+ in a playoff run? And is a right shot D? Raddysh has put numbers 3 years in a row and had a breakout season this year. Teams will be lining up

I struggle comparing the two because I wasn't watching Junions in 2011, but with that being said...In their age 21 seasons, Manning put up 53 in 53 on a team that scored 225 goals. Raddysh put up 81 in 62, but the team scored 316 goals. The handedness matters, but that production isn't on a different planet or anything.

Manning assuredly put up less points over his 3 year span, but raw points is not the measure you want to base an argument on when the teams they played on were about as far apart as humanly possible, even accounting for scoring differences between the WHL and OHL. In chronological order:

Erie: 327, 262, 316
Chilliwack: 148!!, 213, 225

I think I'm glad I wasn't watching '08-'09 Chilliwack.

I'm sure teams will be lining up, but that doesn't mean the kid is going to be any better than Manning. Teams were lining up to sign Stephane Da Costa too. Raddysh is 21 playing juniors on an absolutely stacked team that almost won the Memorial Cup. He put up more points than Manning for sure but he also played more games and on a far superior team. I am not even sure if anyone from Manning's team is in the NHL right now.

I'm certainly not suggesting that he is going to suck or anything like that and I'd be psyched if the Flyers signed him, but I don't think he is a guarantee to do anything in the NHL.

It's sort of topical because of the rumors he's coming back, but his possession numbers were shockingly good compared to my memories and his rep. He really might have been at least a partial victim of goalie variance.

I was watching him in the Mem Cup and he is not very good defensively. Made two huge mistakes leading to Windsor goals in the final game alone. He has talent but I don't see why he'd look at the Flyer depth chart of prospects and think 'there's a place for me.'
