Darnell Nurse getting wrecked again 5v5

he didn't even have that many minutes and still had an absolutely horrendous expected goals.

It's wild how different edmonton is when Bouchard and ekholm are on the ice vs Nurse.
Like grand canyon sized difference.

In 30% less TOI, Nurse had 56% more chances against than the Bouchard/ekholm pairing
You can't have that big of a chasm between pairings when one guy makes that much money

I wouldnt be so sure i think this was their best chance . Yes their core will still be here but many made it possible for them to perform the way they did such as role players

They have only 10 million in cap space and many notable free agents .

Henrique , Janmark , Brown , Foegele players who are important for their penalty kill and bring some much needed depth to their lineup are UFA’s. Broberg and Holloway need new contracts . And few others but i mentioned the above 4 because theyre integral in their amazing PK that allowed Mcdavid to not kill any penalties and be fresh for 5 on 5 . Not sure what theyre going to do nor if their penalty kill will be as good as it was . They were near perfect tbh this post season. They will not be as good as this year while others keep improving.

Theyre going to lose depth and role players .

These are fair points. I admittedly don’t know enough about their depth / cap situation but you’ve raised some good points

I’ve been told by some friends who are oiler fans that as long as their core sticks together, and they stick to their new structure, they’ll be a strong contender again

they just have to sort this offseason out because there’s uncertainty about Draisatl re signing, again at least from what I’ve been told.

Not out of gas but more like overwhelmed by the Panthers aggressive play. Only determined by one goal and this is a lesson for the Oilers. The intensity was not there! Panthers outworked the Oilers.

One thing that you can't help but notice is that Edmonton didn't score a lot of goals this series when they had any sustained pressure. They scored off the rush, often on breakaways and 2 on 1s which Florida gave up. Florida gave up a breakaway goal again tonight, but then they tightened up after that and played more like Florida.

Oil fan just happy I got to witness game 4 and 6 live. What an electric event.

Hats off to the Panthers in game 7, they were the better team.

I’m also glad that at least 4 Florida prostitutes will get to keep their lives tonight now that Bill Zito doesn’t have to deal with another loss

Yeah this is weird: were the Panthers gassed in games 4, 5 and 6? Must be tiring playing like that. The Oilers can be a handful, so playing that hard-nosed style is exhausting. Anyway one more thing the Oilers have to work on.
