You're no better than the Leafs fans who say they "got goalied" vs MontrealNope, or at least you could tell yourself that. That Tampa team ran into the same hot goalie that just eliminated Carolina. To suggest that a 60 win team and the team that currently finished 2nd in the standings weren’t contenders is just a bad take. You may not like the way Carolina plays or whatever it may be, but a full healthy Hurricanes roster is more than capable of beating anyone.

Trade the core of the Hurricanes! They can’t get it done in the playoffs!
You supported it the whole time, your time is coming HangmanSo "We Want Florida" is bad..... Can we go with "Here Kitty Kitty?"
Tua is one hit away, at any moment, hopefully he can stay healthy to make it interesting.Really hoping some of this Florida success rubs off on the Dolphins. Made the playoffs last year, and almost upset Buffalo with their back up.
First Tampa. now South Florida, really good for the state and will hopefully add even more hockey fans in the coming years.
"Everyone's going to say we got swept and thats not what happened."
-Coach who just got swept
Seems like Rod’s trying to sweep it under the rug.
not a bit. Looks like He didn’t move because he thought Chukky was gonna just shoot and he couldn’t see chukky moving across through the screen Bennett and the defender tied up with Benny made.Had no preference as I wished the winner destroys vegas/Dallas in the SCF but I don't see how that's not GI as it clearly impeded his ability to get across the crease
It was a sweep. 2 forwards aren't gunna cause a 4 win swing the other direction. It's not like they were missing McDavid.Lol you’ve still yet to state a fact, but ok. A hot goalie can single-handedly decide a series sometimes. We’ve seen it time and time again, including a goalie like Bob being able to beat two historically high performing teams in Tampa and Boston. It’s also how Carolina was able to win their cup when they did. The numbers clearly prove this.
I never said Carolina lost because they got goalied. It’s a huge part of it, but Carolina was outgunned against a fully healthy Florida roster. Do I think the outcome of this series would’ve been different if Svech and Max played, yes but that’s something we’ll never know. But one thing I do know is if the roles were reversed and Carolina had a healthy roster and Florida, Toronto or Boston was missing their 2nd and 3rd best scorers, Carolina would’ve just walked to the finals. You can’t with a straight face point to more than a few teams that have a definitive better roster than Carolina. I’ll give you Colorado and Tampa because they’re recent champs, but that’s it. You can just admit you have bad takes bro. Everybody’s wrong sometimes
Agreed, as far as the 93 Habs analogy. I vividly remember all of those overtime thrillers. What a great run that was.The remind me of the 1993 Habs. Both teams were better than their regular season would indicate. Habs were a 3rd seed in their division mainly due to a winter slump. Panthers are a year removed from presidents trophy and dealt with injuries all year. Both Teams figured it out at the right time (partway through rd 1). 93 Habs lost 1st 2 to Nordiques then won 4 straight to win that series, swept the Sabres and beat Isles in 5 going 12-1 from game 3 onward. Panthers have went 11-1 since losing game 4 to Bruins. Habs won 7 of those 12 in OT, Panthers won 6 of their 11 in OT. Both riding a goalie that refuses to loose.
So to continue the pattern panthers win the finals 4-1 with 4 OT wins to equal the 10 straight put up by Roy and the Habs. Habs beat Kings 4-1 with 3 in OT.
Regular season isn't realNope, or at least you could tell yourself that. That Tampa team ran into the same hot goalie that just eliminated Carolina. It's very strange. Like, there's that stat circulating that they're not even the only team to lose a series in four one-goal games so we all pretty well know that not every sweep is a blowout, but the amount of people who seem to think the terms are synonymous and have to do this big "oh well you know what he means, it was a sweep but not like a sweep" are confusing me terribly. The sad bargaining and rationalizations over whether it’s a sweep or not from the Canes is like the icing on the sweep cake. Makes the sweep even sweepier
You should be.The expectation creep is interesting. Getting swept in the Conference Finals without getting badly outplayed would have been seen as a good outcome 2 months ago. Now, they're never going to win anything as currently constructed.
The team had a great run under challenging circumstances. I'm a content Canes fan today.
No way! As an Oiler fan I want to say this about the Oilers getting swept vs the Avs last year. As getting swept goes, it was damn impressiveSeems like Rod’s trying to sweep it under the rug.
They are playing to their market. placating the leaf nation that this was all just a fluke fiasco perpetuated by the dastardly Villain from Novosibirsk.I still love how all the Leafs media (personalities) are making it seem like it’s only because of Bobrovsky the Panthers are where they are. Wouldn’t be very wise for Leafs management to think like that.
Your rationality and common sense is a real buzz kill, buddy! You should probably stifle yourselfMaybe we could stop being so obnoxiously literal when it's perfectly obvious what Brindamour meant by that quote of his.
He doesn't think his team didn't really get swept. He just knows that next year, or in five years, your average fan will reduce this series into a colossal failure by the Canes ("haha, they got swept") while merrily forgetting how close each game really was. Let's not pretend that a sweep is generally used synonymously with a closely-contested series.
