My random other thoughts wrapping this series up……

- Marc Staal isnt always pretty, but he somehow gets the job done out there. Quite a resurgence this year for him (even last year I think he was decent in Detroit IIRC?). his brother was quietly solid tonight too, made a handful of nice little plays that showed his veteran poise

- Woll definitely looks like the real deal. I think Toronto can be comfortable with a Murray-Woll tandem, as opposed to a crazy Murray buyout or giving up assets to unload him. Bc Samsonov may have priced himself out. Maybe just bring in a somewhat dependable #3 who wouldn’t get claimed on waivers that can go to the marlies

- Sam Reinhart just oozes hockey IQ

- Lundell is coming into his own for the panthers between their stretch run and these playoffs

- dialed in Bob is a SAVAGE

I concur

Was awesome. Might make it into a shirt.

I mean, how dare he cheer after an OT winner that sends him on. I’m sure he was just being a dick.
You don't yell in someone's face, unless thar goaltender is Binnington, in which case he would have deserved it.

Should the NHL have the Panthers and Leafs redo their series in case it was a big fluke?
No disrespect to the Panthers, I'm a firm believer that Florida beating them in 5 is a huge fluke and robs the Leafs of truly accomplishing what their capable of. I've spent the last few days in pure disbelief and it just doesn't make sense to me. I've spent the entire regular season watching the Leafs play great hockey it's just not fair.
If the Leafs lose again I will face that the Panthers deserved the win, but I am just 100% sure it was a fluke and does a big disservice to the Leafs and the NHL.
Why leafs just lose in 4, the next time.

Barkov put up a Mayweather-esque defensive performance all series long. Deserves his praise as the true Selke champ.
Kudos to Barky.
He‘s obviously playing injured and still neutralised 33M.
He helped Bob survive behind 5 pylons called Florida‘s D.

But there is no excuse for Toronto to never score more than twice.

Carolina is going to be playing a bigger, more physical, healthier, and more tested Florida Panther team. The Islanders and the Devlis are a cake walk.
Should be a good series. Got think it will be close and Florida might even get the win. Providing goalie Bob can keep it going.

"We just matter more than you" is more than a little tone-deaf when a team that is normally referred to as irrelevant and meaningless just kicked y'all's collective asses. If y'all actually mattered, it'd show on the ice.

Nope, that's not how it should work. That which is good for Toronto is good for everyone. Therefore it follows that when Toronto wins, all of hockey wins. Indeed, all of society wins. When Florida wins, only Florida wins.

If only non-Toronto fans could look beyond their myopic range of vision they'd realize that they should be hoping for the Leafs to enjoy every success and that the League should be doing whatever it can to enjoin that success. Whether it means having the referees treat the Leafs more leniently and the Leafs' opposition more harshly, or perhaps altering the rules to favour the Leafs. Perhaps the Leafs should be grandfathered in with the old playoff rules: the Leafs should only have to win three games to win a playoff series while their opponents are saddled with the current rule of having to win four.

If we want what's best for the game, for sports, and for society at large we need to do what we can to ensure the Leafs are victorious.

Florida's "pylon D" was the top scoring defense in the NHL. It's almost like you looked at the names and didnt watch the game. The Leaf "stars" were kept to the perimeter and forced to take awful shots due to a fantastic Panther forecheck. Maybe if they weren't so soft they would have gone ot the net and maybe scored a goal or two.
