My random other thoughts wrapping this series up……

- Marc Staal isnt always pretty, but he somehow gets the job done out there. Quite a resurgence this year for him (even last year I think he was decent in Detroit IIRC?). his brother was quietly solid tonight too, made a handful of nice little plays that showed his veteran poise

- Woll definitely looks like the real deal. I think Toronto can be comfortable with a Murray-Woll tandem, as opposed to a crazy Murray buyout or giving up assets to unload him. Bc Samsonov may have priced himself out. Maybe just bring in a somewhat dependable #3 who wouldn’t get claimed on waivers that can go to the marlies

- Sam Reinhart just oozes hockey IQ

- Lundell is coming into his own for the panthers between their stretch run and these playoffs

- dialed in Bob is a SAVAGE

Good stats players in the regular season do not make for actual results in the playoffs. I don't blame the Leafs fans that want to blow up the core. Marner I actually quite liked, but his timid play in the playoffs and his looking at Refs for calls, really is disappointing for a hockey fan. I think when Tkachuk punched him when the game ended the other night and he just taking it tells the story of both players. You got to show some anger and not take that. Tkachuk knew what he was doing, and that was symbolic of how Panthers play, and how the Leafs play.
What does he care, he's making $10m+. I'd avoid any chance of getting a mark or cut on my body and face as well.

Poor guy. Can't wait for an epic video later. He promised us some volcanic explosion after the G3 If the Leafs falter.

I dont hate the Dangs. Dude is entertaining . I feel for his misery. Dude obviously bleeds Blue and White. .... But man are his videos after a soulsucking Leafs defeat legendary. Hang in there Dangs!

Like any of us wouldn't trade places if we were getting paid to watch and react to our favorite team on a nightly basis.

Right, so a decision was made, the Leafs weren't forced to play their AHL goaltender. They chose to. And he wasn't the reason why the team couldn't score more than two goals a game so I don't even know why you're bring up a goaltender disparity as if the Leafs only lost because they were "forced" to play an AHL goaltender. They lost because they couldn't score all series.
Woll played outstanding

Why was Gustafsson not playing, anyway? Guy scored over 0.5 points per season and for Caps he was playing over 20min per game. Then Leafs bench him and rather play absolute garbage such as Holl or Liljegren. Let alone 50yo Giordano.

Did Leafs really think Gustafsson just happened to be an AHL defenseman who got lucky or something? Makes no sense, guy's scored 60 points before.
He is GARBAGE.

It really is sad how Matthews is so bad in the playoffs, dude could still get paid $15M by Toronto to keep this GREAT player, who always shows up in the same way. Then he says f*** IT and goes golfing.

Not a single solitary habs fan is upset over this fwiw

We lost 10 spots in the draft while our biggest rival ended their best shot at a cup in 30 years with 1 single series win lol

Yeah, no, the guys who trolled the Panthers board all season over the draft pick are definitely upset right now. Sorry, you might not be upset, but let's enjoy reality here for a bit.

Agreed. This generation of skilled players sorely lack good old school hockey toughness. They cannot let a player rough them up and not respond physically. This is one thing i don't like about todays NHL which wants players to depend on the refs and the league to protect them. I love the good old days like player like Wendel Clark who were great players and would beat your ass if you messed with him.

I guess this is what happens when you run your team like a fantasy league.......

Probably Torontos best chance to advance to the SCF this year without TB and Boston and they blew it.
Could say the same for TB. I have no doubt TB would made a 4th trip to the SCF if they had beaten the Leafs and created their first dynasty.

That’s the problem with Leaf fans. Just watch their team. If they actually watched other teams play they would actually see how far away they actually are from being a true contender for the cup.

Why do that? All they need is to watch the super smart hockey experts on TSN, CBC, and Sportsnet to tell them they are every year.
