19 Saturdays is great. A handful of those games will be up against Michigan and Michigan State Football, but still pretty good.

Really liked what they did with the schedule, will need to battle the football in the fall, but 0 home Friday games in Oct vs High School football.

Erie November 3rd is the only Friday home game until Dec 15th. That's very well done there.

Saturdays -
Sept 30th - Firebirds at 7 vs Kitchener, MSU TBD @ Iowa. Michigan is TBD @ Nebraska. Road games by both will help the Dort a bit.

Oct 7th - Firebirds at 7 vs Soo. MSU Off. Michigan @ Minnesota. Road game and bye week, should help the Dort.

Oct 14th - Firebirds at 7 Guelph. MSU 12 pm @ Rutgers. Michigan at home vs Indiana. Indiana won't be very good. I'd be shocked if that wasn't also a noon kickoff. Should help the Dort.

Oct 21st - There's no home game for the Birds. Michigan @ MSU, it's been a noon game for the last few years. I'd be shocked if that changed. Avoided a massive day here.

Oct 28th - Firebirds at 7 vs Soo. MSU TBD @ Minnesota. Michigan on a bye week. That should help the Dort.

Oct29th - Home vs Saginaw 4pm. Great slot here. Lions are off and play Monday Night Football on the 30th. Huge win here for this one.

Nov 3rd Friday - This will be district finals weekend, so the high school load will be much lighter at this time. Not a bad first Friday game.

Nov 4th - Firebirds at 7 vs Missy. MSU TBD Home vs Nebraska. I'll be rooting for a noon kickoff so I can double dip. Michigan TBD Home vs Purdue. Probably the worst Saturday they will have in the fall.

Nov 18th - Firebirds at 7 vs Owen Sound. MSU TBD @ Indiana. Michigan TBD @ Maryland.
Road games, should help the Dort.

Nov 25th - Firebirds at 7 vs Niagara. MSU Plays Friday the 24th. Michigan plays Ohio State at 12.
Should help the Dort.

November 26th Sunday - Firebirds vs Kitchener 4pm. Lions play on Thanksgiving.

I know football will hurt the fall a little bit, but outside of the Nov 4th possibilities, I think they did a hell of a job requesting dates.

Nice work. Good thinking looking ahead thinking about matching up vs college football.

And TSN/NHL Network were giving the team huge love during the broadcast.
Really? Usually the big networks only mention Flint in passing or to bring up the age old Nilsen stuff. I would have preferred different destinations for the boys, but as a Firebird fan you couldn’t really hope for a better draft. Congratulations boys!!!! Well deserved. Nice work by the staff too. Flint draft picks Brandon Svoboda and Andrew Strathmann were also drafted. Very unlikely either shows, but you never know. I’d especially like to see Strathmann and Bertucci paired up in 2 years.

Kind of dissapointing to see him likely gone forever but as player/kid? Can’t really fault him for being allured by Vancouver, BC.

Just scrolling through some of the NHL Developmental Camp rosters I noticed ex-Firebirds Sahil Panwar and James Petrovski got invited to the NYR camp with Othmann. Cavallin is at Leafs camp with Kressler. Other than that I only noticed kids who were drafted going to their team’s camps.

Wonder if Luke gets a crack at the AHL next year. Had very good numbers in the ECHL. 2.56 & .917%.

Yeah, if he stays on the same developmental path you’d think he at least gets called up for a few games. Goaltenders can be so erratic as far as careers go. Guys just coming on out of nowhere or dudes who are on fire in the NHL all of a sudden can’t stop a puck in the AHL and career over. Luke’s path has been a bit more linear and consistent and I think that’s less likely out of him. If I had to guess, he’s a solid starter in the AHL in 2-3 years. After that? Who knows? It’s goaltending. At that point even just luck starts to become a factor as some guys never get a shot and others have huge opportunities just fall into their lap.

Sooo…. in another thread on here the poster asks “Who’s your favorite OHL Player?” I didn’t post because I was kind of struggling to narrow it down. So, Flint fans. Who are your favorite All-Time Firebirds? Any least favorites? Favorites or least favorites for other teams? I’m curious to see who people choose. I’ll take a second soon and post mine.
