It's 17-18 to a tee, no one is scared of playing Jake Allen in the playoffs just like Tampa Bay wasn't scared of Kinkaid. A Good Markstrom at least puts a slight fear in Carolina is my point.

He’s basically playing Markstrom on reputation these last two. Not because he’s giving the team their best chance to win.

And a few months ago Allen had issues and couldn’t win a game. Everyone on this board wanted Allen right off this team because he “sucked”. But management is highly questionable right now and I’m not sure the GM (one of the more overrated ones) is as good as we thought he was.

And with the way they keep going back to Markstrom they deserve the egg on their face for ironically letting him be the one to tank their season after giving up a first round pick for them.

Alright, got my venting out of the way. This game got me very frustrated. Had to get it out of my system.

Team is still in a pretty good spot overall. I HIGHLY doubt they're missing the playoffs. And I still like our core a lot, and I'm comfortable with where this team is headed in the future.

But I don't think they have the elements to do damage in the playoffs this season. It is what it is.

Get the playoff experience, keep grinding away. Hey, maybe they surprise us.

Other than that, get healthy, assess, help the bottom 6, regroup, come back stronger.

My only expectation this season is to get back to the playoffs. Get the experience and hopefully get the hunger from our core youngsters. I am sure we’ll take a beat down but if they show heart and intelligence I’ll take it. Then begin to fine tune the team this summer.

They played even worse the other night in the 3rd. They just got saves that night. And for all of Allen’s troubles he got to sit this one out.

And that’s on Keefe that the team was so poor for two 3rd periods in a row. They can’t play like that where every shift is in their end.
