GDT: Flames vs Devils 7:00 PM EST MSGSN2

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Any proof it's really a tactic? Don't remember then doing this a whole lot before the CBJ game. Maybe they just play scared.
No proof, but I’m starting to wonder. The last two games have been horrible.

We kind of were “Turtling” in November and December, but that was much different. Teams weren’t spending much time in our end. It seemed if they spent 30 seconds in our end that was a lot.

He was also mediocre to start off this year when he was healthy so you can't just pin it all on the injury and why it's probably confusing to us and the coaching staff.
He seems to run either hot or cold in general. He started cold, got hot, then got injured, and now it's like he's back at the beginning again. The problem is this isn't October/November where you can go "well it's a long season he'll find his groove".

The teams behind us are worse than us and have a tough schedule. I don't see us dropping from the 3rd spot.
Roster wise right now they aren’t worse than us given who we have out. As far as strength of schedule…it is a little overblown. For example, I don’t know how tough a game vs the Capitals who have clinched everything the last week of the season will be.

Carolina would've been a tough out if we were healthy, they're this core's boogeyman

No doubt it would have been tough but they were in a good position to be 2nd in the metro. Carolina has lost some juice this season and I don’t know. It just feels like a wasted opportunity the way these guys were playing prior to Christmas. Solid D. Good goaltending. Timely scoring. Then pure mediocrity the rest of the way and now injuries

Yeah this isn't a 2017/2018 Schneider thing where in that moment you knew he was hurt and the groin got torn to shreds. Markstrom was ass for the front part of the year too so we don't know if he's still hurt or he's back to being a pumpkin which is a trash situation to be in considering the assets used for him

This should've been a 3-1 Devils win.

But instead the Devils played like absolute MORONS in the 3rd.

I'm also annoyed that of the 3 goals, none of them were assisted by Bratt.

In such a dismal, awful loss, I can't even have THAT as a silver lining.

This was a wasted evening of Devils Hockey.

Well my date went a lot better than the game, glad I missed it tbh bc I would have been enraged.

I kind of get it, you want to get Markstrom going and the best chance is probably against his former team who is 32nd in scoring. But if he can't prove himself against them then he's got to sit. He is actively costing us games. Daws needs to be called up to make sure Allen doesn't get overworked. At this point I'm not comfortable starting Markstrom until the playoffs are clinched.

Also at the same time I feel like maybe Keefe should just let Nemec sink or swim? His best game against was when Dougie got hurt against Dallas and he had to play consistent minutes. Keefe said playing 5 dmen is hurting. We've pissed away half a dozen games starting Markstrom might as well throw Nemec into the fire a little bit?

Markstrom deserves to ride the bench for a week at this point.

Either the bench or upstairs in the injured players suite if he isn’t healthy enough to dress.

Alright, got my venting out of the way. This game got me very frustrated. Had to get it out of my system.

Team is still in a pretty good spot overall. I HIGHLY doubt they're missing the playoffs. And I still like our core a lot, and I'm comfortable with where this team is headed in the future.

But I don't think they have the elements to do damage in the playoffs this season. It is what it is.

Get the playoff experience, keep grinding away. Hey, maybe they surprise us.

Other than that, get healthy, assess, help the bottom 6, regroup, come back stronger.

They are 6-3-1 in their last 10, I'm not worrying about them.

How many games are we gonna TANK from this guy? Thats literally three games he’s tanked just since he came back/Jack Hughes got injured.

The Dallas game that we lost with 5 seconds left in regulation because he can’t give up fewer than 4 goals. That was the first game of his absolute joke of a stretch. He wasn’t bad in his first game back.

He tanked that Pittsburgh game. Cost us at least a point.

He cost us at least a point in this one. The game winner probably wasn’t bad, but the first two of the third period were.

I’ve been saying for a while that I think the people in charge here might not be that good and they might not know what they’re doing. And I didn’t bring Keefe into equation until tonight.

The Canes don't scare me, our team does lol.

They'll get it done eventually, but not this year.
Definitely need a new goalie coach after this. No more excuses.

I’m highly skeptical they do it with this overrated GM as well, but you obviously can’t fire him if we make the playoffs and if we make the playoffs I think he deserves another chance.
