It's unfortunate that all the talk has been focused on Markstrom... could he have been better? Sure. But the entire team played poorly in the 3rd. It seemed that they simply ran out of gas to me. They showed absolutely nothing in the 3rd.

Absolutely agree. Marky was just one of their issues tonight. Let Allen have the #1 spot then do what you have to do in net. Bring in Daws or whatever is best for the team. But this whole imploding in the 3rd needs to stop asap. The constant giveaways, poor decisions and awful odd man rushes they gave to the Flames was simply unacceptable.

What are they going to do if they miss? It's going to be even more rage inducing because Fitz won't get fired because Siegs/Hamliton/Jack got hurt. It's the NY Jets in 2023 when Rodgers went down, the expectations of ownership went down as soon as those injuries happen. They're stuck with Fitz if they're in the playoffs or not in 25-26, they're also probably bringing back majority of this roster like the guys in Palat, Mercer, etc. They're just going to sign bottom 6 guys and run it back.

They played even worse the other night in the 3rd. They just got saves that night. And for all of Allen’s troubles he got to sit this one out.

And that’s on Keefe that the team was so poor for two 3rd periods in a row. They can’t play like that where every shift is in their end.

I didn't see the Columbus game but I did check the box score. It was the same thing 5 defensemen playing ridiculous minutes to cover for Nemec.... Pesce over the last two games has played over 50 minutes....that's insane. That's just too much stress on your defenders who are also getting very little in the way of goal support.

I'm not sure I'm willing to blame Keefe or any individual for tonight...but if we need a 46 save performance in regulation to eek out a win, we're in big trouble .

Big Frank is in for a longgg night if i spot him from my seat in section 129 Saturday night.

The guy clearly has always had some problems and barstool uses him because of how he acts. Of course Frank turns it up to 10 because he wouldn't get any of this extra attention / money without it but I'm definitely in the just ignore him camp and I can't imagine yelling at this guy at a game.

Yes he was fine through two periods, but the game is three periods long. The team in front wasn’t great, but you can let in 3 goals on 14 shots in the third. And the 2nd and 3rd goals didn’t even come on hemmed in scenarios. He got beat clean as you said.

One other thing... coming into tonight's game we were 15th in the league in goals per game with 2.97 and 4th in the league goals against per game 2.57.

Our big guns don't score that many goals, the depth is iffy at best, we're down two defenders and we can't trust our #2 overall defender to play 10 minutes a game.

Keefe said he was surprised by the last two 3rd periods in his press conference tonight... I don't know how he's surprised... he's over working the defense and he knows it...he even said it.

Between giving up a first and understanding that this team is on a borrowed timeline with him in net, him being on shouldn't be a question though. He's been majority bad this year, he's had one good month where he carried them and has been putrid otherwise while also being outplayed by the backup by a good chunk.

'one good month' where he put up a .937 and was 8-1-1. Do we really have to do this every time? It's the best regular season month for a Devils goaltender maybe ever. Yeah, there's one other good month, 2 okay months, and one awful, bottom falling out month, but please don't engage in reverse hyperbole.

It's also a myth people like to repeat about last season - the Devils were also really good last year with leads heading into the third, and were one of the best teams in the league in this game state until around the trade deadline.
