If Calgary's 2025 pick is top 10, we don't get their 2025 pick.

If I remember correctly, we have to hope both Calgary and Florida are really bad in 2025 and 2026 for us to get a top 10 pick in 2026.
They both need to be top 10 to get one of them essentially, which may not be as crazy as it sounds. Especially if Calgary loses lindholm

If Florida picks top 10 in either 2024 or 2025 Calgary gets their 2026 pick (in part due to another Florida trade with Philadelphia). If that were to happen, and the Habs don’t get Calgary’s 2024 pick, they will get Calgary’s pick in 2025 with the only condition being it’s 1st overall protected.

As @CHfan1 said, best result for us is Florida finishes bottom 10 this year and keeps their pick (so Philly gets their 2025 1st and Calgary gets their 2026 1st). We would then have Calgary's 2025 1st with the only protection being 1st overall. That's all highly improbable unless Florida gets even more crippled.

Most realistic is we're cheering for Calgary to just miss the playoffs in 2024-25 and get an extra top 16 pick next year in the #11-16 range.

I'm here for Slafy ignoring the 48hrs clause even after they use it to pick the wrong guy in 2024. f*** your context, f*** your facts.

Thanks @c3z4r . I think what happened is I lost interest because so much can change depending what happens this year . We likely won't have any kind of idea till spring 2025 what the pick is going to look like, assuming Calgary finishes out of the top 12 this year

let's say Kiviharju or Hutson is available at #20 ??
i would totally take that pick
Smaller D can droped
Don't we have enough D prospect with the Habs? We need more help with skilled forward.

Sean Monahan is probably one of Kent best trade. Getting a first round pick to take him is a huge win!

If we pass on the Calgary pick this year I hope we acquire another first. Some interesting prospects starting to emerge. Lindgren, Iginla, Howe,

Someone needs to build an Excel sheet with all of the if conditions. Spent an hour or so trying to figure this trade out and I still don't get it

It's so complicated that both the Flames and Habs had to change the conditions making it more complicated. Trade was delayed because the NHL didn't like the conditions at first.

Back pocket 1st rounder. Let it play out before we consider trading it. Flames have a old core that will age more.

Cgy pick is top 19 protected.

We absolutely pass on it.

They are a degrading team.

Might end up a nice pick in 2025.

Yup! Most of us see it this way

I think it's possible we get their 2025 pick even if top 10. If Flames don't receive Florida's pick in 2025 we don't get Calgary's pick only if it's first overall. So if Calgary don't get Florida's pick in 2025 and they draft 2nd we get their 2nd overall pick i think. But i think the only way they wont get the Florida's pick is if Florida's win the lottery in 2025 which wont happen.

You know what makes it hurt more , the bloody team that made it happen by beating the pens , ends up winning the lottery and getting Bedard . Go figure
Crosby must hate the CH. Lose against us in the play-in tournament. Then lose against Chicago.
