Philadelphia has Florida’s 1st round pick in 2024 (which is conditional). If Florida finishes with a top 10 draft pick in 2024 Philadelphia gets Florida’s 2025 1st round pick instead and Calgary then gets Florida’s 2026 1st round pick.
This is beneficial to the Habs since the Habs would then get Calgary’s 2025 pick with the only condition of it being a top 1 protected pick if they don’t elect to take Calgary’s pick in 2024 if it falls between 20 and 32.
I forgot about the flyers trade.
So if the panthers were to end up with a top 10 pick this year (which seems very unlikely) then that means the flyers get the panthers 1st in '25. If that happens then,
Scenario: In the event CGY does NOT receive FLA’s 1st round pick:
Sub-scenario:
CGY’s pick is NOT top 10
1. MTL will receive the CGY pick, and
2. If FLA’s pick is not top 10, is a better pick than CGY’s, and
was transferred to another team due to prior conditions, MTL will also receive CGY’s 2025 4th round pick.
Sub-scenario:
CGY’s pick is top 10:
1. If CGY’s pick is 1st overall, MTL will receive CGY’s 2025 3rd, and the better of CGY and FLA’s 2026 1st round pick. Result: TBD
2. If CGY’s pick is 2nd to 10th, MTL receives CGY’s 2025 1st round pic
