We'll take it.

After the upcoming Barkov extension, in 2-3 years we have Huberdeau, Weegar and Knight needing new deals. Good to have some flexibility moving forward.

All the deals this summer has been short. The longest was Bennett at 4 years (less money).

It accounts for the flat cap and the potential it doesnt go up in the short term and avoids the proverbial cap hell. It's also the summer after Huberdeau's contract expires.
