Hmmm whose FLA goalie next year?

Win-win. Brady did the right thing and told Ottawa he wouldn't sign. Florida gets another piece to make a run next Spring and Ottawa gets to reset with a pile of assets for a guy who would've left for nothing in 2 years anyway.

I think this is a great move by Staios. Brady only had 2 years left. If they were playoff bound at deadline 2028, Brady might stay, then they either miss or lose in the playoffs, and he walks for nothing. Or they trade him at the deadline and the return pales in comparison to this one.
But instead they get 3 1sts (including a 9OA) and a 2nd.

Besides, he may have requested a trade to Florida to play with his brother.
They gotta hit that 9th overall pick or this trade is toast.

I thought he wanted to be in the US for his wifes career, who was an RN. Columbus was one of the options that lent itself well to that. Maybe I'm remembering wrong. To me, that's still family reasons

I think that was Trouba, though possible it was the same with Gaudreau. In any event, nothing wrong with American players wanting to play in the US any more than there's anything wrong with Canadian players wanting to play in Canada. That said, Brady was the Captain of a very good team. If he wants to play in the US, fine, but if others say he doesn't have the stomach to be a leader in one market and would rather be a supporting piece somewhere else, that's okay too.

When was the last time Brady was "the guy" to carry the offence? For sure he was gifted prime offensive situations but it's been a while since he was "the guy".

Up until Stutzle has become a star, Brady was the guy in Ottawa for several years to lead the offence. Even with Stutzle passing him as the teams best forward, Brady still played top line minutes and on the #1PP.

Brady won't even be on the #1PP unit in Florida. He's going to flourish in a supporting role.

I don't think Brady is the right guy to "carry" an offense. However, since you asked, he carried it the playoffs before last. He was the only reason that series was close.

He made 2 trades with teams that were forced to move players. Hughes has made far more impressive moves.
Lmao!

Hughes has zero rings.

ZERO.

And you call that “far more impressive” than the two rings on Matthew Tkachuk’s fingers and three straight trips to the Stanley cup finals, and now joined w his brother?!

Lmao. Ridiculous statement and such a lie. That’s how to think like a loser.

I think players should be able to go where they want. However, when they agree to the role of captain, that also needs to come with a level of loyalty.

With that being said, Brady and Matthew at least gave their teams an opportunity to get back some assets

Also, I did look it up. Johnny's wife is an RN..his dad had a heart attack in 2018. And they were starting a young families. All reasons driving his signing in Columbus, which I can respect

Seriously doesn't get more depressing than this
Yashin, Chara, Heatley, Havlat, Spezza, Zibanejad, Stone, Karlsson, Hoffman, and now Tkachuk... prolly gonna be more coming soon too

At least they got the best years of Alfredsson before he left to Detroit

Yeah until 4 seasons ago sure. Hell even this last season Brady was 5th in TOI/GP and 7th in EV TOI/GP among FORWARDS. His role has diminished over the years as the team got better.

I'll wait and see how 2 Tkachuk on the same team for 84 games will go!
I have a hard time watching a 30 second commercial of one of them at the time, imagine both for 84 games!
It's not just them it's that atomic third line is what causes most of the damage no team out there can contain them because they using their best players trying to hold the top 6 and now with Brady the rich got richer. That's one nasty group very Oilers and Islanders like back in the day.

That's from 2001 to now. 25 years. All teams have lost good players - and we had a crazy owner for most of those.

I don't disagree. But Marchand is on 39, not a teenage anymore.
Barkiv is coming back, we will see how he will go
MT, had some health issues.
It would not be the first time a great team on paper, not winning all.

Your ability to understand who is "the guy" is immediately exposed by using points/60 in a 6 game sample to demonstrate a point. Adam Guadette is 2nd on that list.
