If Ottawa ends up picking 9th, I'd be praying Viggo Bjorck falls if I'm a Sens fan.

The other Dmen that are likely to be there could be very good players down the road. But they won't be building blocks for you for awhile. It'll take them time if they have that upside.

Bjorck on the other hand could play a significant role next year & has the high upside to be a difference making C in the following years. It would be filling a huge hole in their forward group sooner than later.

I'm hoping for Ethan Belchetz (LW) if thy keep the pick. They already have Yakemchuk and Hensler in the system at RD. Kleven and Sanderson are both young LD as well.

As a Sens fan I'm not at all surprised this happened and quite frankly I welcome it.

Ask any Sens fan but Brady mailed it in this entire year. Didn't look like he was trying at all and clearly looked like he didn't want to be here.

For Staios to get a top 10 pick and a late 1st in a strong draft + another 1st and 2nd, all while Brady having him by the balls, it's actually not a bad return.

I don't mind making the picks or flipping them for players in return.

Would love if we flipped 9OA++ for Knies and then offersheeted Robertson at 14m and give up 4 (hopefully) late 1sts.

Well, it's a short list of 4 teams. Of those four teams, Minnesota seems to need a C and Carolina just won the Cup, so who knows what they're thinking.

Florida wants to win now and is willing to spend draft capital for it. Ottawa could wait but then Florida could also spend those picks on someone else.

Now Ottawa goes into the season with everyone asking when Brady Tkachuk is going to get extended. The timer is ticking.

He's already made it clear he doesn't want to extend. Now you're relying on a mid-season or trade deadline deal to recoup the value, but there's a decent chance that Ottawa is in the middle of a playoff race, so can you trade your Captain?

Brady Tkachuk wasn't even eligible to sign an extension until a year from now. So makes no sense why everyone would be asking when he's going to sign the extension he's not eligible to sign.

It's also been reported Minnesota made a big offer - likely better than Florida, but Brady basically said I want to go to Florida. He gave them 4 teams he would theoretically accept a trade to in order to make it look less like tampering, but ultimately he only accepted the trade to Florida as soon as they made the offer that he likely knew was coming.

Are you talking about Olympic Gold Medalists Matthew and Brady Tkachuk?
Yep, the ones who rode the Hellebuyck wave the whole way, the ones who were invisible in the Gold Medal Game. You're probably too young to remember Hasek singlehandedly winning gold, nobody much remembers the other forwards on the team.

Matthews was on a team that never missed the playoffs until this year, and one year out and there are already rumours about his future.

It’s easy to be committed to that.
Only ones saying that are Dreger and fatso. Two known Leaf haters especially Dreger since he’s been shut out as an insider because he’s a Paul Marner mouthpiece.

If it's not Hellebuyck to Florida, I think it's Binnington. I would choose Binnington because his price will be less and he's a proven winner. This Florida team with that blue line doesn't need a 3 time Vezina winner, they can easily get away with Binnington. Plus Binnington makes less.

So did Florida dump Manwich Sandwichvich to Seattle yesterday to make room for this deal?
Yes and no.
Samoskevich would have been cheap on a 1-2 year deal.
There could have been offer sheet worry but I think Zito hit a homerun with that
return on a blocked Samoskevich who likely wasn't gonna crack the top 6 long term.

They have around $7 million in space left but could also move Boqvist [1.5M x 1yr] and Rodrigues [3M x 1yr] to address goaltending and some depth adds like a 4C or #5/6D.

Well, if we are doing that, also add endorsement money to the cap as well. You know, make it fair.

No. The nhl restricts salaries. Ever player has equal ability to apply for endorsements. If the NHL chooses to artificially cap endorsements. Then yes that should be fair.

But it is is a secondary thing outside of player contracts. It's not at all the same.
