I don’t disagree, I’m sure Sweeney worked with Marchand on this, but made it clear he was going regardless.

But trading your captain when he’s given his whole career to your team and wants to stay is extremely telling. Boston fans can justify all they want but having someone like that in your locker room should be worth a lot more than a late second round pick. They clearly do not think very highly of him as a leader and as someone they wanted to keep moving forward.
No. That's not clear at all. They made him captain. He's loved by the fans.
And Marchand gets to go for a Cup and come back to Boston if they both want that.
Sounds like a ton of respect both ways.

They might as well call themselves the Miami Rats because this is a rat trick to add onto their rat infestation. The Miami thing, I always disliked the fact they were called Florida considering Tampa is also in Florida.
Florida Panther is what the local sub-species is actually called, so it works better in my mind. Plus OG owner was leaving his options open because he knew he was gonna be second fiddle sharing a new arena in Miami with the Heat.

Made him captain and gave him the boot right after. No way they would have done that with Bergeron.

How will he and Bennett bury the hatchet?

“Hey, Sam- that was dirty as f***. Respect, let’s work on that next practice, might use it myself.”

Florida and Dallas are my two SC favorites, edge to Florida with the experience.

lol. Bergeron retired and the team was in first place on a record breaking season.
Bruins are now moving into rebuild. 5 players traded in a week.
Different scenarios.
You are trying way too hard to throw shade on Marchand

Yeah man, trading Trent Fredrick is the same as trading Marchand. You got me.

He's also injured at the moment.

Bobby Orr finished his career on the Blackhawks. I know all the shenanigans behind it and how it should have never happened but let me repeat Bobby Orr finished his career on the Blackhawks. Orr didn't finish with the B's, Bourque didn't, other world class hockey players didn't. I love what Brad brought to the B's for all of these years but there is nothing sacred in professional sports, it's a business. Good luck to him.

Mats Näslund on the other hand...

I'll take a future 1st (or 2nd) over nothing at all. Sounds like there is some question if he can even play this season. Served long enough to select his destination of choice (if it wasn't going to be here). I still remember Jerome Iginla picking the Penguins over the Bruins in 2013. Really wish it was Colorado though. Might have given me a team to root for.
