And he scored 40pts during the regular season in 2011

And when he actually peaked the bruins couldn’t win. Spent 5 minutes as the captain and the team immediately crashes and burns and is now rebuilding and he’s traded.

The Bruins had phenomenal goaltending, chara and Bergeron for over a decade.
14 years of 20+ goals, and if not mistaken the active NHL leader in short handed goals. Show us on the doll where Marchand hurt you.

In all honesty, I thought that poster said Marchand, not Chucky.

I’d take MT as well. He changed the culture of this team like few others can, and brings a dimension to a team that is needed in the playoffs.
Yep. Totally agree. He doesn’t try to overtake Barkov, both personalities fit well and play a huge role on this team.

Hey Bruins fans - welcome to Florida!! We love rats and Selke-winning captains as much as you do. Adjust the colour gradiant during the games so our jerseys don't blind you, and adopt us for the next few months while we borrow your Captain! We'll beat Toronto again and it will be fun ride ;-)!
Im all aboard the bandwagon southern brother, let's go!

I had to keep it under raps for the last few years, but after you guys bounced us two years ago I got jealous of how they play and sneaky kept them as my second favorite team. Now my favorite current (former?) Bruin is playing there so I can embrace it all!

Frankly this isn't the first time I've jumped aboard a Florida team when a local legend moved.

They might as well call themselves the Miami Rats because this is a rat trick to add onto their rat infestation. The Miami thing, I always disliked the fact they were called Florida considering Tampa is also in Florida.

Cats are soooo fun to watch, they play beautiful hockey that includes toxicity, I'm jealous too

Welcome brother from your southern sister!! And I'm pretty certain Marchand will resign in the off-season so you'll have him back soon: that man is a Bruin to the core, we're just borrowing him for a few months to beat the Leafs for you.

You probably already love Barky [because who doesn't, amirite?], and I'm sure you'll come to love Tkachuk and potentially, maybe, possibly even Bennett...

No hard feelings for the last 2 years 😎 Really looking forward to seeing Marchand with Bennett and Tkachuk, should be a fun ride. Marchand should probably get some rest before the playoffs though. Now go beat the Leafs

Ohh I already love Barkov and Tkachuk, it was Bennett that surprised me. Let's just say, in a thread about Marchand, he felt, um, familiar? In a good way. Can we have him next year?

And good call southern sister, I'm looking forward to be unencumbered for this years playoffs, as weird as that might be.

Just goes to show how little Boston thinks of Marchand. It was pretty obvious that he was a poor choice of a captain but never thought the management group would trade him when he didn’t want to go.

Unfortunately a bit of a stain on an otherwise good list of captains in boston history. Good to see them moving on and I’m sure Boston will bounce back in no time.

This is the dumbest take I've read in years, maybe ever. We love Marchand. He obviously gave us a few teams he'd play for. We got what we could from one of them. And I'm OK with that, he was a great Bruins.

You are a pathetic child that cannot understand reality, very sad.

in a vacuum maybe.

But Tkachuk fits our style of play much much better. Rantanen is more talented, Tkachuk is nastier which fits us.
I meant in a vacuum. But tbh with the panthers current construction especially with Marchand I think they are a better team with Rantanens skill

I just don't get how no one else could offer anything better like are you telling me Winnipeg, Vegas, or even the Wild or Kings couldn't offer anything better than a 1st? and on top of that you retain 50% and you trade him to a divisional rival, very confusing from Bostons perspective.
Seems pretty obvious that the Bruins let him pick his destination

Oops, sorry. Didn’t mean to strike a nerve. I know the trade is fresh and I know some of the fans cared about him. I just meant management clearly thought quite a bit less of him than you did.

Leafs fan?

We'll learn more in time but I'm guessing Marchand gave Sweeney a list of teams he would prefer to go to and they made it happen. He had a major operation last summer, he isn't what he was 3 years ago but still contributes to the offense. The return is basically what I expected

I feel a trade like this isn’t exactly fair competitively.

Its kind of shitty to all the other teams who had to pay crazy prices today

I don’t disagree, I’m sure Sweeney worked with Marchand on this, but made it clear he was going regardless.

But trading your captain when he’s given his whole career to your team and wants to stay is extremely telling. Boston fans can justify all they want but having someone like that in your locker room should be worth a lot more than a late second round pick. They clearly do not think very highly of him as a leader and as someone they wanted to keep moving forward.
