I've hated this guy for 15 years, and have to learn to tolerate him on the Panthers before I can even think of loving him. A weird feeling for sure.

The though of a Marchand-Bennett-Tkachuck line and how much hatred that would generate is hilarious, so maybe that will do it.

Nah, Cousins is gone. Tkachuk is the only guy who’s a truly terrible fighter who’s also a huge pest.

Maybe he wants to try and win the cup again. 2011 was a while ago.

Marchand is injured and was essentially done for the season since the Bruins are very highly unlikely to make the playoffs. The Bruins gave him a chance to play again this season and in the post season. I’m assuming Brad wanted to go to a contender. It’s a contract year and having a good post season will lead to getting a decent contract in the offseason.

Huh ? There wasn’t any retention and it’s IF he plays 25% of the games in the first two rounds it becomes a first round pick.

Marchy also had some say in his destination FWIW

At least that’s what our GM said.

The final report came out as Boston retains 50% of salary and the second becomes a first if Florida wins two rounds and Brad plays at least half of the games.

Then lit it up in his rookie play offs with 11 goals. More than Marner has in his career.
Marchand also leads the NHL in short handed goals.
I guess the Panthers had to settle for the future hall of famer as apparently Scott Laughton wasn't available.

Nelson’s trade as nothing to do with Marchand’s.

Most likely Brad was given the leverage to pick his team, putting the Bruins in a situation where they didn't have much/any leverage.
