for me 24 hours after the news first broke 3 names were mentioned right away and according to the rules that are strictly being enforced we can not talk about them. This was not just on this discussion site. I suspect that some of the media knew the names as when they mentioned who played on the team? The 3 names always got mentioned. If you can find the historic videos on youtube--3 names were mentioned right away and as the investigation continued the same 3 names kept on coming up.

I personally believe that 1 of the 5 has been dealing with the police for awhile
Ahh ok, Day 1 for me was over a year ago.

I hate posts like this. In Canada we sentence people to a loss of their freedom, not to daily violence and prison rape.
I'm not going to argue with a guy trying to defend alleged rapists against street justice lol.

Let the courts decide that.

And general population isn't always a good idea. It's one thing to punish someone for a particular crime it's quite another to turn them into a habitual offender.

Hopefully, if one or more of these kids do jail time they'll come out ready to rejoin society.

We are a pretty malignant species. But we are all we have right now.
The justice system is pretty messed up, and if found guilty they will most likely get a very light sentence of which they will only actually serve 1/3 of it in jail. I wouldn't mind them having a hard time in there at all IF they are found guilty.

Once again, this article implies who is involved but does not state it. You are drawing the conclusion, not the vetted reporter.

This article does not imply who was involved, only that police know of the two.

And I can't believe how many people can't understand the difference between 'alleged or speculated' and actually being named. I've read a lot on this - and the 03 scandal. To my knowledge no names have ever been released.

Now... of course everyone in here should all know the 5 names involved in 2018 by now. There's enough smoke and circumstantial dialogue out there. But that still doesn't mean 'directly named'. Nor does it mean that some of that speculation could be wrong.

Which is why I commend you and others for continuing to try and point this out. Thanks

@Bear of Bad News do the mods have access to infraction tracking data? I am curious what thread was responsible for the most infractions?
off the top of my head the pride night threads and the 1st thread when Perry was terminated have to be up there as far as recent threads.

You somehow concluding that if anyone dare mention that false accusations are real when discussing this case must thereby mean that they believe the alleged victim is lying is not only illogical, but borderline insane way of thinking.
I'm not commenting on the overall exchange with the other poster, but this caught my eye. Taken at face value, that could be a fair statement. Unfortunately, in cases like this the dark specter of "false accusations" invariably comes up under the guise of good intentions, but with a real intent of discrediting victims in not just the case being discussed, but with any complaint of sexual violence.

The status quo is to not believe women, and there are a lot of men who are happy to maintain that.

Of course, that is not everyone's motivation, but you can tell when the men's rights activists start buzzing.

You’re right, of course - that’s what I get for posting and driving.

Those are always fan favorites - things get tricky because we used to cap threads at 1,000 posts because longer threads screwed up the site performance.

We’d need some sort of advanced stats or PDO or something.

Well, you do know as a reported fact that four players have taken leave of absences and you can reasonable infer that they will not be rejoining their teams this season.

I thought it was 5. The thread title says 5. Now it's 4?

I'm not staying up-to-date with any of this. And I have no idea how this may impact their respective teams (or even if they are taking a leave of absence said teams). The discussion is moot at this point I suppose.

That sounds horrible and I feel for you and your friends having to deal with that. I think many of us have, or know people who have, experienced unpleasant experiences with so call “bunny boilers”.

However, that aside, I bet most of us could count on one hand the number of stories they’ve heard along the lines of what you’ve described. Not saying it didn’t happen, only that it seems like a really rare and unfortunate situation.

On the other hand, give me access to a decent public library that has access to newspapers across the USA and I bet I could find dozens of stories of women being raped by scumbag men. And I do mean dozens per day. It’s not rare at all and that is a disgrace.

I really really hate this way of thinking.

By your same logic men are the worst abusers in society as all we ever hear and read about is men abusing women.

Statistically speaking the highest domestic violence rates are among lesbian couples.

I'm making no comment on anyones personal position, but at least understand context and nuance before making sweeping statements.

Speculation is bad, but I'm more concerned about someone breaking the law and putting peoples lives in danger then speculation.

Might just be me though.

I wonder if anyone involved is going to use the Llyod Irv

You talk about context and nuance then cite a random statistic about lesbian couples and refer to domestic violence rates as “higher.”

I’m guessing you’re referring to something like relative to percentage of lesbians in relationships or something similar because it sure isn’t higher in raw numbers. But I don’t know what you meant because you provided zero context or nuance to your statistic about lesbians.

So you see the point then.

A women is 10% more likely to be assaulted physically, sexually or mentally by a female intimate partner then a male partner. Even though if you did as you suggested and waded through news articles, you'd almost never find a story about such an event taking place.

Hope this helps you in the future.

That's a whole lot of assuming. I think people deserve the benefit of the doubt. And assuming someone is condoning sexual assault when all they're doing is saying innocent unless proven guilty, is very offensive. That's what some have accused me of in this thread. And it's absolutely false. And accusing someone of that who is not, is really a personal attack and SHOULD be grounds for defamation of character. At least, it shouldn't be condoned here. I've seen both scenarios with both outcomes first-hand. And I reserve my opinion as the credibility of either party until the evidence proves things in court. But that doesn't mean I don't believe the accuser. Far from it.

I've had a friend dragged through trials and courts for SA that just about ruined their lives and livelihood. Only to thankfully be found not guilty when the evidence showed he was being targeted by a bitter ex who couldn't take being rejected when he broke up with her. And many such cases were all to common in the nightclub industry of which I worked many years ago.

I've also known women who were indeed victims of SA, and it ruined their lives too. And thankfully, the perps were charged and convicted.

I don’t see the relevance. Are you saying that heterosexual women never get raped?

Man you’ve got that talking point up awfully quick. I’m assuming you must be very concerned about the well being of the queer community to have that statistic at the tip of your fingers. Odd that you mention the news articles though. Traditonally, queer stories aren’t covered as much in news media so maybe you’re advocating for them in that way too?

If they are guilty they deserve anything legally coming to them.

My question is, all of you dislocating your shoulders to pat yourselves on the back condemning them and basically assuming the worst most malicious intent. If the players are found innocent, are you going to recant? Or will you sit in ignorance and still act like they are scum? Also anyone who thinks filming consent was creepy are f***ing morons. In today's society of #metoo and #believeallwoman(even when they lie) they were likely expecting something like this could happen and they would be given no benefit of the doubt as shown here so they covered their asses. The fact so many want to just assume she must have been under duress and was just a sweet innocent victim are just staggeringly shitty people.

Let the facts comes out, let the courts do their work and if they are found guilty then condemn away.

This was the post I quoted that mentioned news stories. You had to read the person's post I quoted before you read mine, so how did you miss that?

There was a time when people were jumping through hoops claiming there was no evidence it was players from the 2018 WJC team.

When of course there was insurmountable evidence right from the beginning that it was.

And it is no surprise why such obfuscation was promulgated. No surprise at all.

You could be right and that behavior is terrible, but we don't know all of the facts, they could be innocent. I encourage you to watch the 2006 documentary "fantastic lies" on Disney plus. It's about the Duke University lacrosse team that had a party and a few players were accused on sexual harassment. The women lied

Everyone needs to watch the ESPN documentary Fantastic lies about the Duke University lacrosse team in 2006. 3 players were accused of sexual assault and after 8 months of investigation they were proven innocent and the accuser admitted to lying. The same may be true for these players. The documentary Fantastic lies is on Disney plus and I encourage everyone interested in this case to watch it.
Follow that up with krakauer's "Missoula"

How many post-sex consent videos have you asked women to film for you? I ask because I can't wrap my head around someone thinking this is normal behaviour.
