Aren’t sexual assault cases pretty hard to prove? Isn’t it going to come down to the guys saying she had a couple drinks and was willing vs the women saying she was raped and unwilling?

Most would probably be on the women’s side but unless there is some crazy evidence to prove it (maybe there is) isn’t it just a he said she said situation

How long before the following happens

1. IIHF announces that Team Canada has been stripped of hosting all junior tournaments til 2030.

2. IIHF announces Team Canada has been banned from partipicating in the IIHF World juniors 2024 tournament.

3. Hockey Canada apologizes to the public for trying to silence victims and sweep this under the rug.

If all of this happened, it still would be a light punishment for Hockey Canada!

Bolded will not happen.

They shouldnt if they added value as a doctor or engineer. But they are entertainers/public figures, their value is highly dependent on how they make the team look and if their fans want them. Realistically, even if they are not banned, most teams wont sign them. NHL teams have no obligation to give them a second chance.
Exactly. Its fan who support the business, and there is no f***ing reason we have to stand with players after the fact.

Yes and if these 5 players are found guilty & pay their debt to society, they should be allowed to play.

I wasn't trying to say MacTavish got away easy. M y point was, he did his time and was allowed to play again. Why can't these 5 guys?
They are entertainment products, and they are no longer marketable, on top of the fact they may be unable to get an American visa again considering they'd likely have to register as sex offenders.

Anyone know if Edmonton has 5 available contract spots available after signing Perry?

Doubt it. Maybe if any of them are AHL fodder, or tweeners. But if they're NHL regulars, they will play again.
Perhaps but they will have a black mark hanging over their careers. Not going to be easy to join a team after other players know what you did.

Why does this happen every single time? We all know what it looks like, with the players, but HF wants to mitigate the risk of legal action. So we respect it, and frankly, we shut the f*** up. Its not that hard. There are other platforms that let you spew whatever you want, zero consequence. This isn't one of them.

Not necessarily.

A criminal conviction will require proving beyond reasonable doubt that what happened was criminal.

A black mark/ black listing/ detrimental career effect only requires the public and/or management being convinced that what happened was immoral/unsavoury/objectionable enough that the PR damage and/or moral implications of positive public association outweigh the benefits they bring as hockey players.

There's guys on professional sports teams that have probably done worse but never had the women speak out or they got paid to keep quiet.
